This is the 28th installment of the ‘Wrestling with Sin‘ series. A series of pieces that delves into the darker…much more seedier world of pro wrestling. Some of these stories involves sex, drugs, arrests and sometimes even murder! As with every single piece in the Sin series…I do not condone nor do I condemn the alleged participants.
Some former and current NXT trainees are dancing in the streets as Bill DeMott has stepped down as head trainer of NXT. For years, former students have alleged abuse both verbally and physically from DeMott. Allegations have included…calling trainees gay slurs, spewing racially crude remarks at minority trainees and physically abusing trainees who did not do moves correctly.
Former NXT trainees like Judas Devlin, Kevin Mathews and Brandon Traven have been outspoken about DeMott’s alleged abuse for quite some time. Bill DeMott has continually denied the allegations, but recently decided to step down as head trainer as to not bring more controversy to the WWE. In a statement on Twitter DeMott tweeted…
I deny the recent allegations made about me, however, to avoid any embarrassment or damage to the WWE, I’ve decided to step down from my role effective immediately.
Missing The Link
‘The Missing Link’ Dewey Robertson had become a pretty big star in the Texas territories in the 1980’s. He had become a big part of the success wrestling was having in the Lone Star state. When the the territories dried up however….Dewey Robertson was left penniless, homeless and a drug addict. He never saved any money because he spent it on women, drugs and booze. By his own admission, he slept with dozens and dozens of women including mothers and their daughters at the same time.
The Mothers would bring their daughters to the wrestling matches and offer both of themselves up to the boys. Dewey would smoke marijuana several times a day and have 2 or 3 drinks daily as well. He was also using steroids heavily. It all caused his 32 year marriage to end in divorce. Thankfully, Robertson got himself clean and sober but did eventually die from lung cancer in 2007.
Every Dog Has His Pay
According to Tony Atlas, The Junkyard Dog had a simple philosophy about ring rats…if they wanted to sleep with him…they had to pay up. JYD allegedly believed that since he was the star…women should pay him for sexual favors…(Not the other way around.) JYD would usually charge up to 100 bucks for sex…if the woman in question didn’t have that amount…they needed to find some other form of payment like drugs or booze.
Was She Punked?
CM Punk has had a pretty impressive resume of dating female wrestlers throughout his career. From names such as Maria Kanellis, Beth Phoenix, Lita and AJ Lee (Whom he is presently married to)…Punk has dated them all. CM Punk has stated in interviews that it is only natural considering the hectic traveling schedule of a pro wrestler. Many times, you spend more time with co-workers than you do with your actual family.
Some of these relationships that Punk has been involved in seemingly go one right after the other with no respites in between. In other cases, one or two may even intersect with one another. Such was the case….allegedly…with two of his former lovers Daffney (Pictured above) and Traci Brooks. The rumors are that CM Punk was dating both Daffney and Traci at the same time without Daffney knowing. CM Punk was working and playing with Traci in the Philadelphia area while a part of Ring of Honor and then traveling to visit his girlfriend while she was wrestling for Ohio Valley Wrestling in Louisville, Kentucky.
Eventually, Punk broke it off with Daffney and started dating Traci Brooks “exclusively.” Legend has it that Daffney then suffered a mental break down after she was dumped by Punk in favor of Traci…..Daffney tells a different story. While she did quit wrestling for a few years….Daffney states she never knew that Punk was cheating on her with Traci. While she wouldn’t be shocked if that were the case because the two (Both Punk and Traci) became a public couple not long after her breakup with CM Punk.
