Wrestling with Sin: 40 Ounce

Brian Damage

This is the 40th installment of the ‘Wrestling with Sin‘ series. All 40 of these articles involve the darker, sometimes seedier side of professional wrestling. Many of these stories involve lust, greed, assault, arrests and sometimes even murder! As with every single story in the Sin series…I do not condone nor do I condemn the actions of the alleged participants. Simply retelling stories from wrestling’s past and present…

Heart of a Monster

Independent wrestler named Andre Davis aka ‘The Gangsta of Love’ Andre Heart was arrested, tried and convicted of multiple counts of felonious assault. Heart knowingly and willingly had sex with countless women after being diagnosed with the HIV virus in 2009. The crime was that he never disclosed his illness with any of the women he was with sexually.

Andre Heart insisted he never meant to intentionally harm anyone…but was a sex addict who genuinely cared for the over 350 women he allegedly had sex with. What makes the case even more interesting, was the fact that Andre was about to be hired by the WWE as a referee. He tested posted for the virus and the company pulled their offer. Andre was found guilty and was sentenced to 32 years in prison. He could have faced up to 120 years for his crime. As for the women that were involved with Heart…thankfully none have tested positive for HIV as of yet.

All About the Moolah

The Fabulous Moolah is considered by many as the “World Champion of Champions in Women’s wrestling.” Having held the WWF women’s title 4 times over several years certainly solidifies that assessment. There are several women wrestlers however, that have a completely different take on Moolah. One that was extremely cutthroat, manipulative and conniving.

They have accused Moolah of having a stranglehold on women’s wrestling by controlling all the bookings of her clients. If a client wanted to break away from Moolah…she would force the promoters to no longer book them. If the promoter didn’t comply, she refused to have any of her clients work with the promotion. Not only that, but Moolah was accused of stealing half of her clients pay day. Not only would Moolah get her booking fee, but she would also take half of what her clients made instead of giving them a full payout.

Maxed Out

Staying with WWE Hall of Famer Fabulous Moolah…one of her clients was a wrestler by the name of ‘Mad Maxine.’ Even though Maxine only wrestled a couple of matches with the WWF…Vince McMahon loved her look and wanted to capitalize on that with merchandise during the Rock N Wrestling era. She was chosen to be included in the WWF’s Hulk Hogan’s Rock ‘n’ Wrestling cartoon and was advertised in commercials as such.

This allegedly did not sit well with Moolah who decided to pull her from future WWF bookings out of jealousy. Moolah’s reasoning was she was too green as a wrestler and needed further training. With Maxine out of the picture….Moolah was then inserted into the cartoon. Mad Maxine wound up leaving the WWF and joined the AWA.

Exit The Sandman

If the Sandman aka Jim Fullington was a cat with 9 lives….he would have used 3 of those lives up already. That’s because the Sandman has admittedly died from drug overdoses three times. One of those times happened before an ECW show in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Sandman was riding in a car with Bill Alfonso, Rhino, Little Guido and Raven…..he and Raven shot up Nubain and began to turn purple and stopped breathing.

The other wrestlers stopped the car and got rid of all their drugs and then dropped Sandman off at a local hospital. Sandman was given an adrenalin shot in the heart ala Pulp Fiction and was revived. Believe it or not, Sandman still made the show and wrestled as he checked himself out of the ER after he was revived from death.

To Be The woMAN…You’ve Got To Beat The Man!

As great as the former 16 time World Heavyweight Champion Ric Flair has been in the ring….he certainly hasn’t always had the same luck with marriage and relationships in general. In February of 2010, Flair’s fourth wife Jacqueline Beems allegedly assaulted Flair after a dispute in their North Carolina home. Just three years later…Beems allegedly assaulted Flair again. This time, it led the couple to divorce.

No word what caused either attack on Ric Flair…but both Flair and Beems have had a history with the law. Beems was arrested in 2012 on a DUI charge and Flair has been arrested for allegedly assaulting another driver on the side of a highway in a road rage incident.

Quite The Dil-EMMA

WWE Diva Emma was arrested on charges of sixth degree larceny after being caught shoplifting a $21 iPad case at a Walmart in Hartford, Connecticut. She had just made her WWE debut five months prior. Her arrest led to the WWE releasing her…but quickly rehired her after her lawyer stepped in and claimed that the incident was nothing more than an honest mistake.

Emma received one day of community service and had to take an online course as her punishment. As for her WWE career, she has been used sporadically on WWE TV since the arrest and wrestles mostly for NXT.
