Wrestling With Sin: Area 51

Brian Damage

This is the 51st edition of the ‘Wrestling with Sin‘ series. A group of stories that delves into the darker, often times seedier side of pro wrestling. Many of these stories involve lust, greed, drug abuse, domestic violence and sometimes….even murder! As with every single story in the Sin series…we never condone or condemn the alleged participants.

What the Heil?

WWE developmental diva Zahra Schreiber, who just earlier in 2015 was involved in a social media scandal involving Seth Rollins when both were caught sending nude photos to each other…was in a bit of hot water again. Recently, photos of swastikas that she posted in 2012 have resurfaced on Zahra’s Instagram account. Of course, it has caused quite the stir within the online community.

Zahra was quick to defend the swastikas by saying statements like, “it’s really not anyone’s business anyway. I can post whatever photos I want, if you don’t like them my feelings won’t be hurt if you unfollow.”

The swastika means prosperity and luck. It was around way before hitler turned it into an icon. Take it how you want I could care less. This is too funny.

Lol one of my best friends back home is black and another is married to a black man. I dislike people for their actions not their race. If it happens to be a black, Asian or white person so be it. Mind your business. I’m not all on your shit for things you say that I have no respect for.

People need to lighten up and get the sticks outta their ass.

The photos have since been removed from her account but Zahra was fired from the WWE because of them. It should be noted that Seth Rollins and Zahra have been dating for some time now.

The Mean Gene Scheme

Back before the internet exploded in popularity, wrestling hotlines were a way for fans to get their daily dose of wrestling news and scoops. Both the WWF and WCW had their own respective hotline numbers. In WCW, legendary interviewer ‘Mean’ Gene Okerlund not only hosted the hotline…but according to former WCW boss Eric Bischoff…got a percentage of the line’s profits. This led Okerlund to find ways to bait fans to call the line and at $1.49 per minute…listen as long as possible.

Eric Bischoff stated that Okerlund would often get heat from wrestlers in the locker room by trying to get controversial scoops for the line. In one particular instance in 1995, Mean Gene teased that a former champion died. Okerlund led fans to think that the deceased wrestler was none other than Ric Flair. It led to a huge surge of callers who had to listen to about 4 or 5 minutes of nonsensical stuff until it was finally revealed to being Jerry Blackwell. The bait and switch tactic caused a flood of complaints to the WCW’s corporate offices and also led to a scathing column in the New York Post.

The Total Truth Stings

At one time, Sting and Lex Luger were two of WCW’s youngest and brightest stars. They were also the best of friends outside the ring. They had the looks, the money and the power. It led both Sting and Lex to go on numerous power trips fueled by money, drugs, alcohol and women. Both admittedly carried on affairs while their wives stayed at home taking care of their families.

Facing divorce from all of his extracurricular activities, Sting turned to God and quit boozing, drugging and stayed faithful. Lex on the other hand was still living the party lifestyle he was accustomed to. Once Lex started an affair with Miss Elizabeth, Sting tried to lecture him on the problems it was going to cause him both personally and professionally. Lex felt betrayed by Sting as a friend for no longer partying with him and lecturing him on his affair with Liz and the two had a bitter falling out.

Lex’s wife eventually found out about the affair and the two divorced while his kids stopped speaking to him for a time. Elizabeth would later die of a drug overdose and Luger suffered a spinal stroke which left him paralyzed for a time. Lex has since become a born again Christian and has made up with his friend Sting.

Konnan The Barbarian

Former WWF and WCW wrestler Konnan was recently being interviewed by a Spanish language show called Mas Deportes hosted by a woman named Nahima Choura. During Konnan’s segment, he inappropriately touched Choura who immediately screamed out, “NO!” Konnan then responded by allegedly saying to Nahima…’You aren’t that good looking anyway.” That of course got Nahima even more upset and led the incident to be covered extensively in Mexico.
