WWE Survivor Series 2015 Predictions

Craig Wilson, Brian Damage and Jamie Lithgow

Tonight’s Survivor Series will see the crowning of a new WWE champion with the culmination of a title tournament that’s now in it’s final four and features Roman Reigns, Dean Ambrose, Alberto Del Rio and Kevin Steen. Elsewhere, The Undertaker and Kane team up to face Bray Wyatt and Braun Strowman, Charlotte defends against Paige and more.

WWE World Heavyweight Title Tournament Semifinals: Roman Reigns vs. Alberto Del Rio

Craig: While I believe Alberto Del Rio looks and acts more of a main eventer than Roman Reigns, I think we all know how this is ending, don’t we? Reigns will win this one. Hopefully they have a competitive match because Del Rio isn’t too far away from needing jump leads to get this WWE running again.

Winner: Roman Reigns

Brian: Ummm….lemme guess…..Alberto Del Ri-NO! Roman Reigns wins this and goes to the finals.

Winner: Roman Reigns

Jamie: Yeah, as if Del Rio is winning this. I’d wager that it’ll be a good match though. WWE will want Roman Reigns to look like the hero, overcoming all the odds. Thus, I’d expect him to crawl – rather than walk – away from this match with a win.

WInner: Roman Reigns

WWE World Heavyweight Title Tournament Semifinals: Kevin Owens vs. Dean Ambrose

Craig: Arguably just as obvious as the other semi-final. Obvious isn’t always a bad thing but Ambrose is turning heel at Survivor Series, isn’t he? Anyway, in terms of this bout: I’m more excited about this semi-final than the other one, that’s for sure. If both these guys bring it then this has all the makings of a hard hitting crazy match.

Winner: Dean Ambrose

Brian: This should be a solid match and while I’ll root for Owens…common logic has it that Dean Ambrose advances.

Winner: Dean Ambrose

Jamie: What odds of an Owens/Del Rio final?! Again, this should be a good match but the outcome is not in doubt.

Winner: Dean Ambrose

Dolph Ziggler vs. Tyler Breeze

Craig: I’m prepared for a disagreement with Brian on this one, I don’t really like the Tyler Breeze character and I don’t think it has at all transitioned well from NXT to the main roster. It can be thrown into the same mix as Emma, quirky and over on NXT but lost in the shuffle on the main roster. This bout with Ziggler? Should be good. Do I care about it in the slightest. No, not really.

Winner: Breeze, probably.

Brian: This should be the match of the night. Tyler Breeze is a tremendous talent who will be in my view a big star. Dolph Ziggler is Dolph Ziggler a great talent that can easily put on a 5 star match any given night. Regardless of what Craig says 😉 I think Tyler Breeze has transitioned well thus far.

Winner: Tyler Breeze

Jamie: I will agree with both of you. I do like the Tyler Breeze character, but it really has not transitioned well on to the main roster thus far. I feel like WWE have been a little presumptuous regarding NXT here. Not every WWE fan watches NXT, thus you can’t just put an NXT wrestler on the main roster and expect them to do well without better introducing them to the new audience. See Becky Lynch and Bo Dallas for further evidence. With that said, a good performance here could do Breeze the world of good. This needs to be a good match and he needs to win…… and believe it or not I think he should cheat, rather than go over clean.

Winner: Tyler Breeze

WWE Divas Title Match: Charlotte vs. Paige

Craig: Well, it speaks volumes that the WWE allowed these two to close last week’s Raw. Say what you want about the segment – I thought it was awful and didn’t like the bringing of Reid Flair into things – but it shows that the WWE do have faith in this pair. And this should be a pretty good match. I don’t buy into Charlotte to the same extent that others do – I think she’d benefit from being able to try and make some distance between her and her father but until then, she’s decent enough.

Winner: Paige, hopefully.

Brian: Charlotte obviously needs a lot of work on her personality but her in ring skills are pretty damn good. Paige has been hitting her mark in the last few weeks. I expect a good match.

Winner: Paige

Jamie: They give a women’s title match the main event segment of the go-home Raw before Survivor Series and have them mention what?! Best intentions but poor execution, that pretty much sums up this angle, and the entire ‘Divas Revolution’ so far. Still, I hope fans give this a chance. At worst this should be very good. I’m going with Charlotte to win, because Paige doesn’t need the title to be the most significant ‘Diva’ on the roster.

Winner: Charlotte

WWE World Heavyweight Title Tournament Finals: ? vs. ?

Craig: So my prediction is Dean Ambrose and Roman Reigns in this one – I think that couldn’t be more obvious. I think the pair will have a good match that the crowd will be into. I think the crowd will be behind Ambrose in this one and are likely to be disappointed with the outcome…

Winner, and new WWE champion, Roman Reigns.

Brian: Let’s not kid ourselves…it will be Roman Reigns vs Dean Ambrose and one of them will turn heel and join the Authority. Logic says it will be Roman Reigns and it should be…but maybe…just maybe Dean Ambrose turns for shock value.

Winner: The era of the Ambrose Asylum begins

Jamie: The obvious final is Reigns vs. Ambrose. Given the current lack of main event star power this match will obviously provide us with a new WWE Champion, but should also provide us with a new top heel. If a heel turn is involved then common sense says that a good guy will turn bad in order to become champion – throwing a hissy fit after a defeat would just be lame, and somewhat pointless. As Roman Reigns has been positioned at, or near, the top of the card for the last year I have to assume that he will become Champion, thus becoming a heel and new member of The Authority in the process. Come on WWE, square pegs in square holes. Ambrose is more popular with fans than Reigns, thus he should be the babyface chasing the title into TLC and perhaps the Royal Rumble too.

Winner, and new WWE Champion: Roman Reigns

The Undertaker and Kane vs. Bray Wyatt and Braun Strowman

Craig: This is the one I am most disappointed with. This could, and definitely should, have have been a 4 vs. 4 elimination tag match. It’s such a wasted opportunity that it isn’t. As Jamie said in a text the other day, and I paraphrase, Taker and Kane destroyed all four the other week so surely they defeat these two. Yup.

Winners: The Undertaker and Kane.

Brian: Should’ve been a traditional Survivor Series elimination match. Either way….with all the hoopla about it being the Undertaker’s 25th anniversary…who else do you expect to win?!?

Winners: Undertaker and Kane

Jamie: Holy crap, I do not give a shit! By virtue of the fact that Taker and Kane destroyed all four members of The Wyatt Family the other week, I assume they will make relatively light work of just two members here. The right call is for Kane to do the job, but realistically Wyatt will suffer another set back or Strowman’s first big match will result in his first big defeat. Fuck sake.

Winners: Undertaker and Kane

Craig: My main gripe is the fact that the main event isn’t a Survivor Series match. It seems such a huge waste. That said, the title tournament has been well done and 3 of the matches from this past week’s Raw were excellent. Will I watch Survivor Series? Probably not. I’ll definitely check in with the main event and the world title match.

Brian: Eh…not exactly a great card on paper…but as we all well know….usually something big happens at the Survivor Series so I expect something that’ll create a buzz for a few weeks to come.

Jamie: Why did they not save the quarter-finals of the tournament for this show? Taker and Kane were kidnapped, so their match could have waited another few weeks. Breeze vs. Ziggler could, and should, have been booked as part of the tournament. The Divas Title match could have then occupied the semi-main event slot between semi-finals and final. As is, this card looks like any other… actually, it’s a bit light . As I write this it’s Friday and I am yet to see The New Day, The Usos, Cesaro, Neville, Sheamus and Barrett on this card. Fuck sake WWE. It was simple; book an eight man, one night tournament with one additional match between the semis and the final. A card like that would even justify the name ‘Survivor Series’. On that note, where’s the traditional tag matches?! As you can tell, I’m not as excited by this card as I should be.
