Wrestling With Sin: 60 Seconds

Brian Damage

This is the 60th installment of the ‘Wrestling with Sin‘ series. A group of stories that delves into the darker side of professional wrestling. Many of these stories involve such topics as sex, greed, drugs, arrests and sometimes….even murder! As with every single story in the Sin series…we do not condone or condemn the alleged involved. We are simply retelling these stories that have been told throughout the years.

Men on a Piss-ion

We all know that the pro wrestling industry is a very exclusive club. Anybody who comes in from the “outside” isn’t going to be well received until they can prove their worth. Enter Oscar the rapper/manager of the WWF tag team Men on a Mission. Oscar was not a pro wrestler by any stretch of the imagination. He was discovered at a casino in Las Vegas by Vince McMahon and Randy Savage during the Wrestlemania 9 weekend.

Oscar who had a musical background was seen as a perfect fit for Men on a Mission a pseudo hip hop wrestling tag team. When Oscar first arrived with the WWF…he was not welcomed with open arms by pretty much anybody…including the team he was going to be working with in Mable and Mo of Men on a Mission. Many of the wrestlers took shots at Oscar and hazed him unmercifully.

One such incident involved Oscar and the Steiner brothers who were not happy that Oscar was with the company at all. The Steiners allegedly grabbed Oscar backstage at a show and took him into the bathroom. It was there where the Steiners duct taped Oscar to a urinal and then took turns peeing on the rapping manager. The only way Oscar got freed, was after being soaked in urine was able to break away from the tape. To his credit, Oscar took his lumps and repeated hazings and did not quit.

A Picture is Worth A Thousand Words Or A Thousand Dollars Per Hour!

Recently, WWE/NXT developmental diva and co star of the Total Divas reality show…Eva Marie threatened a lawsuit against a California “massage parlor.” According to the website Pro Wrestling Sheet…Eva Maria and her lawyer sent a Cease and Desist letter to a massage parlor called ‘Candy’s Therapy’ for using a real selfie of Eva Maria for one of their ads.

The picture of Eva Marie was eventually removed and another ad without her picture was put back up. While described as a massage parlor…Candy’s Therapy in actually is an escort service specializing in Latina women.

Sweetan Sour

‘Bruiser’ Bob Sweetan was a pro wrestler who mainly competed for the National Wrestling Alliance and its various territories during the 1960’s, 1970’s and 1980’s. While respected inside the ring as one of the toughest men to lace up a pair of boots, he wasn’t as well regarded outside of it. Jim Ross referred to him as a “miserable human being” and others have called him a locker room thief, a bully and a “piece of garbage.”

So it might have come as no surprise to many when Sweetan was arrested for alleged child molestation. The victim, was his stepdaughter. Charges were filed, dropped and brought back up again, leading to Sweetan getting arrested in San Antonio, Texas and serving a 10-year sentence. He was then released and deported back to his native Canada.

Acid Reflux

Michael Verdi aka Trent Acid was considered by many as a can’t miss wrestler that would make it big in the business. Acid was indeed a five-tool wrestler who had tremendous abilities inside the ring and on the microphone. For close to 15 years…Acid dominated every independent wrestling organization he competed in…whether as a part of a tag team or as a singles star.

His main roadblock to bigger…more mainstream promotions like ECW, WCW or even the WWE was sadly himself. Trent Acid battled a drug addiction for several years that often found himself on the wrong side of the law. In 2010, Acid was arrested for possession of heroin and was facing close to two years in prison. After a plea deal…Acid was ordered to mandatory drug rehab…but allegedly took a tour of Japan which violated his court orders. Roughly two months later, Acid was found dead of an apparent accidental drug overdose at his home. Trent Acid was just 29 years old.

When a Relationship Goes Limp

The relationship between former WWE and current Lucha Underground stars Melina Perez and John Hennigan has certainly been a tumultuous one at best. They have been on and off for nearly 11 years and it has included affairs…domestic violence and social media rants. Recently, Melina posted a bottle of the drug Cialis to her Twitter account. The drug was labeled and prescribed to John Hennigan.

In case you were not aware, Cialis is a drug that helps men with erectile dysfunction…much like Viagra does. The post was quickly deleted and Melina would post on her Twitter that she regretted posting the picture. While it remains unclear why the pic was posted in the first place…Melina has had a history of maligning Hennigan from time to time on social media for whatever reason.
