Wrestling With Sin: Route 66

Brian Damage

This is the 66th installment of the ‘Wrestling with Sin‘ series. A group of stories that delves into the darker side of professional wrestling. Many of these stories involve such topics as sex, greed, drugs, arrests and sometimes….even murder! As with every single story in the Sin series…we do not condone or condemn the alleged involved. We are simply retelling these stories that have been told throughout the years.

Smoky Mountain High

The former ‘Sinister Minister’ James Mitchell recalls a story of how ‘Primetime’ Brian Lee treated “ring rats” in the old Smoky Mountain wrestling days. According to Mitchell, there were ring rats (Women who had sex with wrestlers) who would tattoo the name Primetime on their nether regions in honor of Brian Lee. Was he that good at sex or was it something else?

Apparently, Brian Lee educated Mitchell and other Smoky Mountain newbies on how to treat a ring rat. Brian Lee wouldn’t have sex with any rat until they paid for his hotel room, buy him clothes, drugs, booze and then, after a suitable amount was spent, Lee would grace the rat with sex.

The Sex was Rigged

While wrestling for WCW, Scotty Riggs said that a few wrestlers spotted him at a bar sitting and talking to Nitro girl Fyre aka Terri Byrne. Rumors quickly spread like….err wild Fyre….that the two were messing around behind the scenes. The rumors grew and grew until finally word got back to WCW head Eric Bischoff.

Eric Bischoff called Scotty Riggs into his office and lectured Riggs that his behavior was unacceptable and he would not tolerate the two screwing around citing sexual harassment lawsuits, bad for business etc. Scotty insisted that the two were just friends and nothing was going on.

In the meantime, Fyre was getting lectured by the head of the Nitro Girls Kimberly Page about the alleged fling. When Riggs and Fyre met up after their meetings they were both understandably upset seeing as they didn’t do anything wrong. According to Riggs, that is when Fyre proposed that the two really do have sex and give WCW management a legitimate reason to be upset. Allegedly, the two had hooked up and had sex after that.

Hit and Run

During a match at an independent show in 2012, a wrestler named Adam Gooch became irritated after a reportedly blown spot and took his frustrations out on a fan at ringside. The two main problems were, Gooch physically assaulted the fan and caused the fan to be hospitalized. The second part of the story, was that the fan in question…Nathan Clark…was mentally challenged. Adam Gooch reportedly struck the fan in the face after the fan was jeering him at ringside.

After the assault, Gooch ran out of the VFW hall where the wrestling event was taking place and jumped into car driven by a friend and took off. Their was a small pursuit by police who eventually caught up with Gooch and arrested him. The parents of Nathan Clark said they wouldn’t sue the promotion over the incident. The Indy promotion called, StricktlyNsane Pro Wrestling released this statement on the matter…

StricktlyNsane ProWrestling is a family friendly show , and what happened last night will not be tolerated so as a result of your own Unprofessional actions Adam Gooch you will never work another snpw show so consider yourself FIRED !

We have an update on Nathan , no concussion but he did have to get 10 stitches ,Nathan we heard that your father talked to a member of the v.f.w. and said you would see us at the next show ! Thank you for your continued support for the wrestlers and not holding this incident against them they all came together for you last night and the Whole S.N.P.W. Family wish you a speedy recovery.

Crash and Burn

Mike Lockwood aka Crash Holly in the WWF seemed to have it all. He was a former 22 time (That’s right, I said 22 time) WWF Hardcore champion and for a time, was a true star. In 2003, however, Lockwood was released from his dream job at the WWF and wrestled for several indie promotions as well as the upstart TNA wrestling group.

His WWF release, coupled with an impending divorce from his wife of 4 years, Lockwood committed suicide by consuming several bottles of muscle relaxers with alcohol. Lockwood would die after he choked on his own vomit. He was just 32 years old.
