This is the 67th installment of the ‘Wrestling with Sin‘ series. A group of stories that delves into the darker side of professional wrestling. Many of these stories involve such topics as sex, greed, drugs, arrests and sometimes…even murder! As with every single story in the Sin series…we do not condone or condemn the alleged involved. We are simply retelling these stories that have been told throughout the years.
The Roid Warriors
In 2011, an independent wrestler who went by the name of Chris Carnage was one of 32 individuals arrested in a huge steroid drug ring in Ohio. Aside from Carnage, others arrested included a bank manager, truck driver, health club manager, financial planner and even a stay at home mother. Over $600,000 worth of steroids were seized as well as $300,000 in cash, numerous vehicles, automatic rifles and other weapons.
The drug ring operated out of Ohio, but purchased the steroid powder in China, manufactured it in Tennessee and sold to various dealers to mostly high school athletes. Chris Carnage wrestled for several Indy promotions in the Ohio area. He also wrestled one match at the WWE’s old developmental territory in OVW against Mitch Johnson. Carnage was indicted on several counts of drug trafficking, drug possession and other felonious charges.
Catch A Tiger by the Dough
The Japanese mafia is no stranger to being linked to professional wrestling in that region for decades. They have often run their businesses through various wrestling promotions. Former pro wrestler Tiger Jeet Singh has been allegedly linked to the Yakuza when he competed in Japan. According to Mick Foley, he once dined with members of the Yakuza when he traveled to Japan to wrestle.
Foley noticed a member of the Yakuza slip Tiger Jeet Singh a roll of money during the dinner. It has been alleged by some that when Singh was actively wrestling…the Yakuza “sponsored” many of Singh’s trips to the far east. His meals, hotels and other accommodations were taken care of by the Japanese mob. It is not known what connection Singh had with the Yakuza and what if anything he did in return for the mob’s generosity.
The Legend of Leatherface
First off, this Leatherface is not to be confused with the Leatherface who wrestled death matches in Japan. The Leatherface in question was an alleged “ring rat” who attended many ECW and independent shows in the northeast during the 1990’s. According to former ECW star Danny Doring, he once witnessed Leatherface give a number of ECW stars oral sex backstage while he watched.
One of the reasons Doring didn’t participate in the oral gratification was supposedly because she had a chipped tooth and continually cut the penises with said tooth. The ‘Sinister Minister’ James Mitchell also recalls a Leatherface story in which she was backstage at an independent show and wanted Mitchell to play with her “enormous boobs.” While Mitchell was playing with her breasts, Mitchell accidentally fell backwards and fell off the stage and onto a gimmick table underneath.
The Knockout Punch
Former TNA Knockout Awesome Kong aka Kia Stevens was involved in a physical altercation with TNA interviewer and radio “shock jock” Bubba the Love Sponge aka Todd Clem back in 2010. It all allegedly stemmed from Bubba making some disparaging remark about Haiti after it suffered from a deadly earthquake. Kong was heavily involved in raising money for the victims of the earthquake.
When she saw Bubba backstage at a TNA taping, she allegedly assaulted him by punching him at least 3 times. Both Kong and Bubba were sent home that night. The incident didn’t end there…because Bubba had allegedly called Kong in the middle of the night and used several racial slurs against her. Kong would later call Bubba’s radio show to confront him and yet another heated argument broke out. All of that combined, led to Bubba being fired from TNA wrestling.
Et tu Brutus?
In the spring of 2015, it was revealed that one of Hulk Hogan’s long time friends Ed Leslie aka Brutus Beefcake in the WWF was selling unauthorized photos and forged signatures of the Hulkster. It all came to light when a fan told Hulk via Twitter and much to Hogan’s shock and dismay…all of it was being done behind Hogan’s back.
There has been no word on what legal actions if any Hulk would seek against Leslie. Ed Leslie also filed a civil suit against Hulk’s ex wife Linda Bollea after Linda in her book accused Hulk and Leslie for having a homosexual affair. An accusation, she later recanted.
