This is the 71st installment of the ‘Wrestling with Sin‘ series. A group of stories that delves into the darker, underbelly of pro wrestling. Many of the stories involves such subjects as sex, drugs, greed and in some cases even murder! As with every single story in the Sin series…I do not condone or condemn the alleged participants. We simply retell their stories by researching interviews, newspapers, magazines and various other sources of media.
During their time in WCW, Steven Regal and Van Hammer apparently grew to legitimately hate one another. Some believe it occurred during a series of matches in which both Van Hammer and Regal exchanged some stiff, hard hitting blows. It all culminated at a Christmas party being held at the home of ‘Diamond’ Dallas Page where both were in attendance.
Allegedly, Van Hammer started talking trash about Mexican Luchadors and European wrestlers and when word got back to Regal he confronted Hammer. The two exchanged heated words and Regal ended up headbutting Van Hammer a few times before the two were held apart from one another.
Debbie Does Dudleyville?
Bubba Ray Dudley has gone on record as saying when he was a kid, he wanted to be three different things. A pro wrestler (Obviously) a rock star and a porn star….I guess two out of three ain’t bad. While we are all aware of Bubba Ray’s success as a pro wrestler, it is not as widely known that although Dudley never acted in a porno, he did direct a few.
According to Bubba Ray, he became friends with porn king Rob Black of Extreme Associates and he told Black of his desire to do some porn films. While Bubba never revealed the names to his films, he did say he got porn legend Ron Jeremy to star in one of them.
Also as an aside, Bubba Ray along with Tommy Dreamer and the late Big Dick Dudley made a cameo appearance in a porn film titled, “Whack Attack 5.” While they never engaged in any sexual activity, they did stand in the background and watch a sex scene take place. In the end, the wrestlers did give the porn actors involved a round of applause and bowed to them.
For Whom The Bell Tolls
Mike ‘Mad Dog’ Bell was a professional wrestler in the 1990s and early 2000s. He wrestled several matches for the WWE as a preliminary wrestler or enhancement talent for bigger name stars. He is most notably known for an incident that transpired during a match against Perry Saturn in 2001.
During the match, Bell accidentally botched a move that caused Saturn to land awkwardly on his head. Saturn got so upset, he legitimately attacked Bell immediately after that. Using stiff kicks and punches, Saturn then threw Mike Bell out of the ring on his head. Thankfully, neither wrestler was seriously injured after the incident.
Mike Bell battled drug addiction and steroid abuse for a majority of his career. While in a rehab facility in California in 2008, Bell was found dead. He had recently celebrated 60 days of sobriety. An autopsy later revealed that Bell died from a heart attack after inhaling a household cleaning product. Bell was only 37 years old.
The Gift of Gab-i
Earlier in 2016, former WWE Tough Enough contestant and current TNA Knockout Gabi Castrovinci was allegedly assaulted during a match on Wild Samoan Afa’s WXW promotion. Castrovinci went to social media and TMZ to tell the world that she was legitimately roughed up during a match against indie wrestlers Raquel and Regina.
Gabi claims that the two women wrestlers assaulted her perhaps out of jealousy because she had received a TNA contract so soon after debuting in pro wrestling. Others think the beat down happened after Gabi Castrovinci was careless and sloppy inside the ring during their match.
Either way, Castrovinci suffered a fractured jaw and a broken tooth as well as multiple bumps and bruises all over her body which she shared with everybody via TMZ and social media.
