Wrestling with Sin: Pier 92

Brian Damage

This is the 92nd installment of the ‘Wrestling with Sin‘ series. A group of stories that delves into the darker, underbelly of pro wrestling. Many of the stories involves such subjects as sex, drugs, greed and in some cases even murder! As with every single story in the Sin series…I do not condone or condemn the alleged participants. We simply retell their stories by researching interviews, newspapers, magazines and various other sources of media.

Just W*ING it!

Yukihiro Kanemura aka W*ING Kanemura was a big star in Japanese death match promotions like Frontier Martial Arts Wrestling, Big Japan Wrestling and even briefly for Extreme Championship Wrestling here in the states. Back in 2008, Kanemura would be involved in a huge scandal that would alter his career forever.

Kanemura would repeatedly sexually harass and fondle a female employee that worked on Big Japan’s newsletter. It would continue to go on until none other than Big Japan’s ring announcer became a whistle-blower and reported the harassment on his personal blog. The Japanese media got wind of the incident and a firestorm of coverage came from it.

Yukihiro Kanemura issued an apology at a press conference and was soon blackballed from competing in Big Japan and several other promotions for years after. The whistle blowing ring announcer was fired as well despite getting praise from the female who was repeatedly harassed at the hands of Kanemura.

Kentucky Blue…Balls

A trio of independent wrestlers from Kentucky have taken to social media to air their dirty laundry. It appears a 19-year-old female wrestling student was sending her male trainer a series of nude pics via cell phone. The problem is, male trainer/wrestler is a married man. He is married to a fellow female wrestler who found out about the nude pictures and decided to expose the 19-year-old trainee. This where things got really interesting.

The female trainee in question is named Amber Wilson and she is being accused by the wrestling couple of being nothing more than a ring rat. Amber claims that she and the male trainer/wrestler named Tomahawk were having an affair and he was leaving his wife named Michelle Meyers. Several of the Tomahawk/Michelle Meyers students and fellow wrestlers have come to their defense backing up suggestions Amber is a ring rat and a describing her as a manipulator.

Amber claims that Tomahawk was seeking divorce lawyers before the nudes were found. She also claims that she broke it off with him and decided to walk away from the situation. She claims that Michelle Meyers is vindictive and jealous of her while Meyers claims that Amber has slept with several wrestlers to try and further her in-ring career.

Hall Hath No Fury…

In the early 1980’s, while with the Central States territory based out of Kansas City, notorious party animals Marty Jannetty and his friend and fellow wrestler DJ Peterson checked into a hotel room. That night, Jannetty and Peterson trashed the room after a lot of drinking and partying with several females.

The next day backstage at a show, Jannetty was passed out on a trainer’s table hungover. Scott Hall went up to the sleeping Jannetty and began punching him repeatedly in the face. When Jannetty awoke all bloodied and bruised, he grabbed a lead pipe and went after Hall. The two had to be pulled apart by several wrestlers. The question was, why did Scott Hall attack Marty Jannetty out of nowhere?

As it turned out, the bill for the hotel damage the previous night was charged to Hall. When Jannetty and Peterson checked in, they did so under Scott Hall’s name to get a better discount. The only thing was, Jannetty never did that. It was DJ Peterson who was the culprit. Scott Hall and Marty Jannetty eventually made up and remained friends.

Fritz CON Erich

David Von Erich died suddenly and unexpectedly while on a tour of Japan from what is believed to have been a heart attack at age 25 in 1984. Some believe his death was covered up by friends of the Von Erich family like Bruiser Brody who didn’t want the media to discover he overdosed on pills and booze. Regardless of what has been theorized, after David’s untimely death it didn’t take his father Fritz very long to capitalize on it.

Fritz (the promoter of World Class Championship Wrestling) began selling autographed pictures of his son during intermissions at shows held at the Dallas Sportatorium. What appeared to be a rare collector’s item allegedly was nothing close to that. It has been alleged that the autographs were not really from his recently deceased son, but forged by Fritz himself and WCCW referee and office worker David Manning.
