Wrestling with Sin: 108

Brian Damage

This is the 108th installment of the ‘Wrestling with Sin‘ series. A group of stories that delves into the darker, underbelly of pro wrestling. Many of the stories involve such subjects as sex, drugs, greed and in some cases even murder! As with every single story in the Sin series, I do not condone or condemn the alleged participants. We simply retell their stories by researching interviews, newspapers, magazines and various other sources of media.

C. S. Aye…Yai…Yai

In early 2010, it was reported by several Mexican news outlets that a luchador who went by the gimmick of ‘Mini Cibernetico’ was arrested for attempted murder. It was alleged that Mini Cibernetico saw his girlfriend with another man and stabbed both the woman and man in the town of Chimalhuacan. Both people would survive the attack and the luchador was arrested.

In an odd twist to the story., a luchador who originally portrayed Mini Cibertico (Damian Moreno Quiroz) in AAA stated that the luchador arrested wasn’t him but another luchador who portrayed the character on the Mexican indie scene.

The Fargo Rut

Legendary Memphis wrestling Icon Jackie Fargo was arrested in 2005 for running an illegal gambling ring. It was reported that police were in the area investigating a separate crime not related to Fargo when they stumbled upon his operation. At the time of his arrest, Fargo was 82 years old. He posted bail and later received probation for the crime.

Gambling was nothing new to Fargo as Memphis wrestling announcer Lance Russell can attest to. Russell claimed that Jackie Fargo back in his hey day of wrestling in the 1960’s and 70’s moonlighted as a bookie for all the boys who wanted to gamble while in the territory.

A Porn Star’s “Big Dick”

Hall of Fame adult film star Tom Byron recently recalled a time when he was hanging out with several pro wrestlers on New Year’s Eve of 1999. Byron was partying with Bubba Ray Dudley, XPW promoter Rob Black and ‘Big’ Dick Dudley and others on New Year’s Eve. A drunk man noticed who Tom Byron was and started to harass him by calling him a “faggot” among other names.

The two started getting into a verbal confrontation when the drunken fan spit on Byron and flicked a cigarette into his face. Having seen enough, Big Dick Dudley apparently snapped and beat the tar out of the drunk. Police were called, but the wrestlers and Byron were able to get out of any serious trouble.

Taeler Ham

Early in her career, former TNA and current Ring of Honor wrestler Taeler Hendrix took several photos of herself in various states of undress. It was alleged that her ex-boyfriend leaked the pics online. Some were in lingerie while others were rumored to be her nude. The nude photos were never substantiated although people online claimed to have seen them. That, of course, remains up for debate. Here is just one of those leaked photos…

On the Rocks

Helen Hild was a model turned professional wrestler who competed in the 1940’s, 50’s and 60’s. Hild was married twice in her life, first married to Ted Willis in which she had a son (future wrestling star Ted Dibiase) and later remarried to pro wrestler ‘Iron’ Mike Dibiase who adopted Ted when he was just five years old.

In 1969, ‘Iron’ Mike Dibiase suffered a heart attack inside the ring and died. His sudden death put Helen into a tailspin. She would fall into a deep depression and quickly became an alcoholic who neglected her son. Ted Dibiase who be forced to live with his grandparents at the age of 15 while his mother battled her demons. She died an early death as she was just 57 when she passed.

The Notion that there was way too much Motion

Independent wrestler ‘Mr. Motion’ Shane Taylor, real name Michael Taris, was arrested in early 2009 on charges of insurance fraud and criminal attempt theft by deception. In 2007, while at a 7-Eleven, Taris allegedly slipped on some spilled coffee. Taris claimed he suffered from serious neck and back injuries that prevented him from being able to sit or stand for long periods of time and was unable to continue to pursue a career as a pro wrestler.

Taris was able to collect disability for his alleged injuries but decided to continue to wrestle for various promotions in New Jersey and Pennsylvania including CZW and Jersey All Pro Wrestling. Insurance investigators were able to get a hold of some tapes of his wrestling matches and decided to arrest Taris. It was also discovered during the investigation that Taris was working as a male escort and massage therapist while not wrestling. He was arraigned and posted a $10,000 bond for his release.

I’m Cool…I’m Cocky…I’m Sad

Being the child of a big name pro wrestler can’t be easy. The days, weeks and months they are away from their families can and often does take its toll. In a recent shoot interview, The Honkytonk Man Wayne Farris talked candidly about the issues that have plagued his only son. HTM says his son once had a scholarship to play golf at a major college and lost it due to his dependency to drugs and alcohol.

His son has been arrested numerous times in the past including having drug paraphernalia and a small amount of marijuana in his possession during a routine traffic stop. While his son continues to battle his demons, we here on this blog wish the Honkytonk Man and his family all the best.
