This Week in Wrestling 2018 Week 47

Brian Damage

It’s Saturday so time for the latest installment of ’This Week in Wrestling’, the 47th of 2018. Today, Brian looks at the rise of Becky Lynch’s WWE career and shares all the best wrestling content of the week.

Becky Lynch – WWE’s Biggest Star
Brian

A couple of months ago, Becky Lynch turned heel and I for one thought it was a big mistake by WWE management. Boy, was I ever wrong. Since her change in attitude this past August at Summerslam, Becky Lynch has easily become one if not the hottest character in the entire company. So much so, even Jim Ross has compared her fan reactions as “Austinesque.” Of course, referring to Stone Cold Steve Austin who was the most popular wrestler during the Attitude Era.

It’s really easy to see, considering how well Lynch has taken to her new personality. Give credit where credit is due, WWE has given Lynch a lot of good storylines to create a character that has become so beloved by fans. Se is cocky, brash, confident and cheats when needs to. Lynch is the new anti hero, she is not afraid to break the rules along the way.

Despite all of this, fans have eaten up her routine and have embraced her as “the man.” A motto that Lynch herself has adopted and embraced. It doesn’t matter who she is in the ring with, whether it be Charlotte Flair or ‘Rowdy’ Ronda Rousey…..fans have gravitated to her like no other superstar currently on either roster….both male and female. She has emerged as a true superstar within the company.

One that no matter what she does or says get cheers instead of boos. She has helped her character development by trolling other WWE stars on Twitter and actually kicking Edge off of his own talk show on Smackdown’s 1,000 episode. At this point, Becky is no longer a true heel, but a tweener who like Steve Austin before her, breaks the rules, yet gets admired for it.

Make no mistake about it…Becky Lynch has finally arrived and there is no turning back. She has a personality that fans can relate to. She is one of the very best inside the ring and has quickly become the man.

  1. Becky Lynch is definitely the hottest thing right now in WWE and they need to capitalize on her fame. With the right long-term build and allowing her to do things that are outside the box. I think a Lynch-Rousey program for WrestleMania is $$$$$$$$$. That has to be the main event for WrestleMania 35.
