Wrestling With Sin: 205

Brian Damage

This is the 205th installment of the ‘Wrestling with Sin‘ series. A group of stories that delves into the darker, underbelly of pro wrestling. Many of the stories involve such subjects as sex, drugs, greed and in some cases even murder! As with every single story in the Sin series, I do not condone or condemn the alleged participants. We simply retell their stories by researching interviews, newspapers, magazines and various other sources of media.

Don’t Jerk Around with the Promoter

Mike ‘Soul Train’ Jones aka Virgil in the WWF, started out his wrestling career in the CWA based in Memphis, Tennessee. Jones was certainly not shy and very proud of his physique among other body parts of his. It is alleged that Jones would often “show off” the size of his penis to the boys in the locker room. One day back in 1987, Soul Train Jones was in the locker room and promoter Jerry Jarrett walked in and caught Jones playing with himself. It was allegedly in front of both male and female talent.

Sid Vicious claims that Jarrett was so taken aback, that he fired Jones on the spot and kicked him out of the building they were in. It wasn’t all bad for Jones though. After getting fired in Memphis, he was called for a meeting by the WWF. Rumor has it that Pat Patterson heard of Jones and his “legendary” bravado and asked to meet with him in which Patterson was shown Jones’ pride and joy and was hired. That of course is just a rumor at this point.

Nothing to Rave About

Jimmy Rave was a stand out pro wrestler, who mainly competed for both Ring of Honor and TNA wrestling. In 2009, however, his career would quickly derail after becoming a full blown drug addict. Rave admitted that all he cared about was getting his next fix and scoring more pills. He no longer cared about his appearance or even his wrestling. He attributed his addiction to his painful childhood. His mother was an alcoholic who drank herself to death when he was just 17 years old. He was also sexually molested as a kid and spent time at a youth detention center.

When wrestling wasn’t enough to forget about his inner pain, Jimmy Rave turned to drugs to numb himself. After being released from TNA, Rave went to ROH, but at that point was a complete mess. He was soon released from ROH due to his ongoing drug issues. Seeing how he was losing his career and possibly his own life…Rave checked into a drug rehabilitation center. Thankfully, he says he is now clean and sober and working as a director of a wellness center.

Nattie Not Nice

A Pennsylvania prisoner by the name of Christopher Donnelly filed a lawsuit against WWE wrestler Nattie Neidhart in 2014. Donnelly claimed the two were an item from 2005 to 2009 and he suffered both mental and physical abuse from her during that time. He also states that Nattie aborted their child, beat him numerous times in various hotels across the country and forced him into prostitution. Donnelly was seeking $250,000 for mental anguish. Not shockingly, the judge ruled in Nattie’s favor citing that Donnelly was “delusional” and dismissed the case.

Rude Reflection

‘Ravishing’ Rick Rude and ‘Ragin Bull’ Manny Fernandez were the reigning NWA world tag team champions in 1986. While the two were on the road, Manny zeroed in on a female fan that caught his eye. Rick Rude couldn’t understand why Manny wanted to sleep this female fan who he thought was sub par. Manny didn’t care as he was willing to sleep with any woman who was available to him.

As a rib, Rude got to the woman first and invited her back to his and Manny’s hotel room. Rude told the woman to take off all of her clothes. After the woman did so, Rude allegedly grabbed her and faced her to a full length mirror in the room and asked her, “Would you F— that if you were me?” The woman was mortified and began to cry and ran out of the room naked with her clothes in tow. Manny who was in the room at the time, was upset Rude took his chance to be with that woman….but found the entire incident hilarious.
