This Week in Wrestling 2019 Week 28

Brian Damage

It’s Saturday and today we have ’This Week in Wrestling’, the 28th of 2019. Today, Brian discusses Cesaro and how it is time he gets world title run and shares all the best wrestling content from this week.

It’s Time for WWE to “Swing” into Action

With all the talk about who should be pushed better, who is being “buried” and who is being misused…names like Sami Zayn, EC3, Bobby Roode, Buddy Murphy and Cedric Alexander are mentioned a lot. One name that seems to have been forgotten about is the ‘Swiss Cyborg’ Cesaro. Oh sure, at one point in his WWE career, Cesaro was constantly mentioned as a wrestler who should be doing more. He and Dolph Ziggler were two names that were consistently looked at as having too much talent to be mid carders.

As the years have gone by, fans have turned their attention to other misfits of WWE and Cesaro had become somewhat of an afterthought. To be fair, Vince McMahon has given a few singles pushes to Cesaro in the past. For example, when he debuted and became the United States champion, when he aligned with Paul Heyman to become the “King of Swing” and then the time he became sort of a James Bond type character. All of those pushes didn’t really lead into much of anything.

It seemed, for whatever reason, that the WWE never fully invested into pushing him all the way. Cesaro’s biggest pushes came in the tag team ranks when he teamed with Tyson Kidd and especially with Sheamus in ‘The Bar.’ Now, with Sheamus on the injured list….Cesaro is back in the singles division. It seems like the perfect time to rekindle a solid push for him and see where it goes. I am pretty confident that a huge push for the Swiss Cyborg could work.

We all know that the man can flat out wrestle with the best of them. He has this uncanny combination of both strength and agility. While he may not be the most gifted performer on a microphone…he certainly is no slouch either. He does have charisma and I truly believe he could get over as a terrific heel character. Give him the Intercontinental title, let him win some big matches against the company’s top stars. Let Cesaro be Cesaro.

Ultimately, he should be rewarded with a WWE world title run. If anybody deserves it…it is Cesaro. Even Sheamus has spoken out and up for Cesaro getting a WWE world title run. He said, “I’ve always said, at least in the last couple of years, one title I haven’t won is the Intercontinental Title. But I’d rather see (Cesaro) win the (World Title) than me win the Intercontinental Title. I’d rather see him be the World Champion. He deserves it.” Definitely high praise from Sheamus who has had his taste of being the guy in WWE.

If the WWE is truly changing and giving fans more of what they want…shouldn’t Cesaro getting a main event opportunity be a part of that? The man has consistently put on tremendous matches. He has been a loyal employee and you never hear or read about him being a problem behind the scenes. It’s time for Cesaro to get pushed. A real push that is sustainable. He deserves it and more importantly…he has earned it.

For just 25 bucks, Virgil will autograph a slice of his birthday cake and apparently present it to you in nothing but a towel.

A pretty sad drawing, but in many cases true with how Vince McMahon killed off so many good wrestlers from NXT.

You know what, Billie Kay looks better without all that make up she uses on TV.

There’s a rapper named NEMS and he released an album entitled ‘Gorilla Monsoon.’ No idea if any of the songs have wrestling lyrics in them.

There are decent wrestling theme tattoos like this on of the ‘Villain’ Marty Scurll…

And then there are tattoos like this one of Sabu…
