Wrestling With Sin: 234

Brian Damage

This is the 234th installment of the ‘Wrestling with Sin‘ series. A group of stories that delves into the darker, underbelly of pro wrestling. Many of the stories involve such subjects as sex, drugs, greed and in some cases even murder! As with every single story in the Sin series, I do not condone or condemn the alleged participants. We simply retell their stories by researching interviews, newspapers, magazines and various other sources of media.

Peek A Boob

In 2006, son of legendary wrestler/promoter Verne Gagne….Greg Gagne was hired by the WWE as a road agent/trainer. While down in Georgia helping train wrestlers in Deep South Wrestling (DSW) Gagne found himself in a great deal of hot water. First, he criticized DSW’s head trainer Jody Hamilton when students said they preferred Hamilton’s way of teaching how to do a drop kick. Gagne who used the drop kick regularly in his career, became offended and called Hamilton a ‘fat ass who never did a drop kick in his life.’

The biggest trouble, however, came when Gagne was training future WWE female wrestlers. Gagne walked into the women’s dressing room to tell them to hurry up getting ready. Apparently, Gagne didn’t knock and walked in to see an unidentified female wrestler nude. Gagne insisted it was all an accident, but others felt that Gagne did it intentionally to snoop. Either way, WWE corporate got involved and Gagne was accused of sexual misconduct. Gagne was ultimately fired from the company.

Mexican wrestler Cibernetico, had a nude photo of himself posted on an adult sex site. The profile with his photo said he was interested in hooking up with both male and females. When questioned about the profile, Cibernetico denied creating it. He insisted that while the nude photo was in fact him, he had only sent the picture to his wife. Cibernetico had no idea how that pic leaked out to somebody else.

He also insisted that he was not gay and that he would never be involved in any sort of prostitution. The profile was eventually taken down and nobody was ever implicated in hacking Cibernetico or his wife’s accounts.

The Blunder Down Under

Mario Milano was a professional wrestler who competed in places like the NWA, the WWWF, Memphis, All Japan, Australia, South America and Europe in the 1950’s, 60’s and 70’s. Milano became an icon in Australian wrestling. He passed away in 2016 and a tournament was named in his honor for the Australian Wrestling Entertainment (AWE) promotion. After the announcement was made that his name would be used in a tournament…a female wrestler named Shazza McKenzie spoke up.

McKenzie, an Australian female wrestler who has competed at NXT tapings, accused Milano of groping her in a locker room 10 years prior. She tweeted, “Mario Milano groped me backstage 10 years ago infront of a crowded locker room but sure we should definitely name a tournament after him ? #TimesUp #MeToo

The tweet set off a firestorm of reactions from wrestlers and the AWE promoter Sammy Russo. Russo responded by saying, “The dead can not defend themselves but your ten witnesses can you refuse to mention. The Mario Milano that I know is nothing like that and may he rest in peace. You had ten years to say something that at the time Mario would have been 74 years old and retired. Good luck with the publicity being a role model to women.”

Fellow wrestler Morgan Dowel added this…“Shazza Slut WTF you want to fake rubbish the name of an absolute legend of our awesome sport to tarnish another promotion that is actually drawing? I don’t know you well because I don’t want to know you well as you are a very ugly well known dirty little slut. You have a great reputation for being easy AF. I think a legend like Mario Milano wouldn’t try such a thing on a future NXT jobber.”

Several wrestlers came to Shazza’s defense and called out Sammy Russo and Morgan Dowel for their vile responses. Russo’s and Morgan Dowel’s comments were quickly deleted and Mario Milano’s name was eventually removed from the tournament.

New School Versus Old School

In 2000, New Jack was drinking at a bar in Queens, New York. During the course of the night, New Jack had an argument with an elderly couple. New Jack punched the husband and the man collapsed to the floor. New Jack alleged that the elderly man hit him first…but once 911 was called, New Jack, who had a prior criminal record fled the scene. A warrant was placed for his arrest, but as far as records show…was never actually arrested for the incident.

    • He might grow old enough to be an elderly punching bag, after all the high risk moves and hard living it won’t be long before he’s crippled and helpless, homeless and hopeless and hopefully nobody will donate to his go fund me

  1. Shazz should, since the man is dead now, have been asked to “Please, name the ten witnesses” and if they all corroborate her testimony, then… They can remove Mario’s name from it. Wtf is wrong with people caving into any kind of minority, without first asking some serious questions and trying to get to the bottom of thing’s.
