Who doesn’t love a good wedding? In the World Wrestling Federation there were a plenty. Some good, some bad and some just plain memorable. On November 29th, 1999, we were all “blessed” with an invitation to witness the holy matrimony of WWF superstar Test and Vincent Kennedy McMahon’s only daughter…Stephanie. It was a match made in heaven, or so we thought.In other words, just another typical WWF style wedding.

A Million Dollar Idea: The Creation of the Million Dollar Belt

Make no mistakes about it, ‘The Million Dollar Man’ Ted Dibiase was once the top heel in all of the World Wrestling Federation back in the late 1980’s. In a lot of ways, the Million Dollar Man gimmick was the precursor to the Mr. McMahon character a few years later. He was sort of a rib on media tycoon Ted Turner with a bodyguard named Virgil aka Virgil ‘Dusty Rhodes’ Runnels (the head booker of NWA/WCW at the time). The Million Dollar Man was all about power and control and he did it through his immense wealth.

He started out as a soccer player in Wales in the United Kingdom. After an injury ended his playing career, Barri Griffiths began weight training and building up his physique. He worked as an undertaker at a funeral home, construction worker and a personality of UK television before transitioning to pro wrestling. He was often compared to former WWE star Dave Bautista in looks. After a very brief career on the UK’s independent scene, Griffiths signed a developmental deal with WWE.
