This is the 279th installment of the ‘Wrestling with Sin‘ series. A group of stories that delves into the darker, underbelly of pro wrestling. Many of the stories involve such subjects as sex, drugs, greed and in some cases even murder! As with every single story in the Sin series, I do not condone or condemn the alleged participants. We simply retell their stories by researching interviews, newspapers, magazines and various other sources of media.
After a card in Dallas, Texas in 1971….’The Spoiler’ Don Jardine went to collect his pay from the promoter. The promoter was none other than fellow wrestler Joe Blanchard (Tully’s father and Tessa’s grandfather) According to the Spoiler’s manager Gary Hart, Blanchard decided to get cute and held back money from Jardine’s pay. An argument ensued and according to Hart…the 6ft 4in 300 lbs Jardine beat up Blanchard.
To add insult to injury, Jardine then allegedly threw Blanchard out of the office window which was located inside the Dallas Sportatorium. When Blanchard’s assistant heard the glass break…he ran upstairs to the office and was met by Jardine who proceeded to throw the assistant out the same window in anger.
The Chyna Syndrome
Former WWE wrestler Chyna was found dead of a drug overdose in 2016. During the final years of her life, she was filming a documentary about her life called ‘Wrestling with Chyna.’ The person who was making the documentary was a filmmaker named Erik Angra. Chyna’s last known voicemail was made to Angra just two days before her body was discovered. In it, she claimed she was getting clean and rambled on about various things like returning to acting and getting her taxes done. After Chyna’s unexpected death, Angra who became close friends with the former wrestler while filming the documentary told People magazine that he was blind to the extent of Chyna’s substance abuse, adding that her passing changed who he was as a person.
Almost four years later, Angra was arrested on multiple charges of trafficking heroin. Angra was indicted on one count of conspiracy to aggravated trafficking in drugs, a second-degree felony; one count of aggravated trafficking in drugs, a second-degree felony; one count of trafficking in heroin, a fourth-degree felony; one count of aggravated trafficking in drugs, a fourth-degree felony; one count of aggravated possession of drugs, a second-degree felony; two counts of possession of heroin, one a fourth-degree felony and the other a third- degree felony; one count of aggravated possession of drugs, a fifth-degree; one count of possessing criminal tools, a fifth- degree felony; one count of aggravated trafficking in drugs, a first-degree felony; one count of trafficking in heroin, a third-degree felony; and one count of aggravated possession of drugs, a first-degree felony.
Did Chyna’s drug overdose cause Erik Angra to go over the edge? If he is found guilty, did Angra actually have a hand in Chyna’s death? Was he supplying her drugs? All valid questions to wonder about, but Erik Angra is innocent until proven guilty. As for the documentary on her life…it was never released.
Ace in the Hole
Current Impact Wrestling star Ace Austin has made a career of portraying a sleazy character as his gimmick for the promotion. He’s seduced wrestlers wives and even their mothers. Early in his wrestling career, Austin did a number of custom made soft core wrestling matches in skimpy tights. Often in positions to showcase his body.
Much like Seth Rollins and Becky Lynch did early in their careers. While these videos are often to serve both male and female fetishes…Ace Austin was never nude in any of them.
Malice in Wonder-Land
WWE Hall Of Fame Wrestler ‘Mr. Wonderful’ Paul Orndorff’s son Paul Orndorff III was arrested in November of 2019 after a routine traffic stop went bad. After Orndorff III was pulled over for a simple traffic violation, Orndorff sped off after the officer exited his vehicle. A police pursuit ensued through a suburb of Georgia. With Orndorff traveling at high speeds throughout residential neighborhoods, the pursuit was called off.
Orndorff continued speeding and was spotted in a different county where their police department started another pursuit. Several police departments joined in the chase where Orndorff was able to avoid two separate police spikes. Police were finally able to surround Orndorff’s car in an apartment complex. It was there that Orndorff got out of his vehicle and fled on foot into the woods.
Police used K-9’s to track Orndorff and place him into custody. Paul Orndorff III was charged with felony fleeing and eluding police, violation of the Georgia Controlled Substances Act and several traffic violations.
