This is the 292nd installment of the ‘Wrestling with Sin‘ series. A group of stories that delves into the darker, underbelly of pro wrestling. Many of the stories involve such subjects as sex, drugs, greed and in some cases even murder! As with every single story in the Sin series, I do not condone or condemn the alleged participants. We simply retell their stories by researching interviews, newspapers, magazines and various other sources of media.
This Food Has Some Bite To It
Roddy Piper, Hillbilly Jim, Dick Murdoch, Rick Martel, Hulk Hogan and a few more wrestlers tell a story about how devious Mr. Fuji could be if he feels he was screwed with. During the territorial days, Japanese wrestlers were a hot commodity. Two in particular were Fuji and his tag team partner Toru Tanaka. Apparently Tanaka messed with Fuji’s bookings to help himself gain more opportunities.
When Fuji found out, he invited Tanaka and his wife over for dinner. When Fuji served the food, he pretended to be sick and left the room. Tanaka and his wife ate the meal and Fuji returned with a platter that had the head of Tanaka’s dog on it. The story goes that Fuji killed the dog and fed it to his tag team partner as revenge. The story has been told by many wrestlers and does have some slightly different variations to it.
Is it completely true or formed a life of its own like the Stephanie McMahon / Macho Man story? We may never know the total truth to this, but if true…a horrible act. Of course we know that the WWF used the story as an angle involving Al Snow and The Big Bossman years later.
Erin Go Bra Less
Erin Bray was a former Baltimore Raven’s cheerleader who entered into the 2002 version of WWE’s reality competition show Tough Enough. She was looked upon as one of the early favorites to win the competition and receive a WWE developmental contract. Bray made it to the Final 25 and was about to make it to the fina 13….but according to Dave Meltzer…it was revealed that she was spotted on a date with one of the Tough Enough judges rumored to be Bob Holly.
WWE management was livid and immediately cut Bray from the show. She did make a couple of appearances for TNA wrestling in its early days…but ultimately left wrestling. She did reemerge to do some nude modeling in 2007.
There is no question that Mil Mascaras is considered one of the all time great luchadors in Lucha Libre history. Despite being called a legend, Mil Mascaras has been rumored to have a somewhat arrogant reputation. Some have said that his status made him very difficult to work with. Whether that is completely true or not, some in the wrestling business hated working with him.
In the early 1990’s, a young up and coming luchador named Abismo Negro was booked to work a match against Mascaras. During the course of the match, Abismo Negro began working extremely stiff and no selling many of Mil Mascaras’s moves. This angered Mascaras, who after the match, sought out Negro in the locker room and began to scold the young luchador. Mascaras got in the face of Abismo Negro and attempted to remind Negro who he was and what he means to wrestling.
Abismo Negro apparently laughed in Mil’s face and that led Mascaras to open hand slap Negro. The two then proceeded to get into an all out fist fight with many in the locker room claiming that Abismo Negro got the better of the Mexican icon.
When Goodish Goes A Little Baddish
Geoffrey Dean Goodish is the only child of the late, great wrestler Frank Goodish better known as ‘Bruiser’ Brody. Geoffrey was born in November of 1980 and was only seven years old when his father was senselessly murdered in Puerto Rico by another wrestler named Jose Gonzales. In the years since Brody’s death, his son has found himself on the wrong side of the law a number of times.
Geoffrey has been arrested at least three separate times…mostly on drug related charges. His most recent arrest took place in 2019, when he was arrested for possession of drugs in the state of Texas. He was sentenced to three years in prison and is eligible for release in the year 2022.
