It’s Saturday and today we have ’This Week in Wrestling’, the 14th of 2021. Today Brian talks about the excitement or lack thereof for Wrestlemania 37 and shares all the best wrestling content from this week.

Wrestlemania: It Ain’t What it Used to Be.
It’s Wrestlemania week and without question, the biggest night of the year for pro wrestling here in the States (At least for WWE). Oh sure, you’ll have the actual event take place on two nights….but there is also the WWE Hall of Fame ceremony and NXT Takeover. Usually when Wrestlemania comes to town, we get all of that, plus events from an assortment of independent promotions. Love or hate Wrestlemania, the event is always good for local businesses and pro wrestling for the particular area it is set in.
With all that said, I can’t help but say my excitement level for this ‘Mania is at an all time low. Yes, Wrestemania is overblown, overhyped and not exactly Wrestle Kingdom…..but as a fan in general I always had some sort of enthusiasm for this week. Maybe it is the ongoing pandemic. Maybe it is the fact that many other non WWE events have been cancelled because of Covid. It could also be that WWE creatively just isn’t up to par.
Some of the matches I am looking forward to like Sami Zayn vs Kevin Owens, Cesaro vs Seth Rollins, Sasha Banks vs Bianca Belair and a couple of others…but for the most part….the rest of the card just seems “eh” to me. I admittedly have been struggling to watch Monday Night Raw and even Smackdown can be a chore at times to watch (Although that is the better brand between the two) Whatever the reasons for the lack of excitement, I will definitely be tuning in….it just isn’t the same as it was in years past.
As I have looked over on social media…many other fans feel the same way as I do. The overall excitement for this show is low. That doesn’t mean that Wrestlemania 37 will bomb. It can’t be any more odd than the Wrestlemania last year. At least it will take place in a stadium and have actual fans and I am sure some surprises. I hope it succeeds. Not so much for Vince McMahon…but for all the wrestlers and crew who have worked hard to try and entertain us in these weird, wacky times we are currently living through.

Vince McThanos and the wrestling monopoly he created for himself through the years. The AEW and Impact gems are still unattainable.

Several memes popped up since Daniel Bryan was inserted as the third man in yet another Wrestlemania main event. Some of these are gold!

This one was pretty funny.

Awesome drawing for NXT’s Stand and Deliver Takeover show

Speaking of cool fan made posters…how about this one for Wrestlemania 37

An amazing photo of an unmasked Ultimo Dragon in front of the famed Arena Mexico.

Someone made this DRAWING of Sasha Banks….it is outstanding!

Congratulations go out to Will Ospreay…the new IWGP world heavyweight champion.

One of your hosts for Wrestlemania 37…..brother.

A great drawing of the Undertaker’s conquests at Wrestlemania.

Sami Zayn has really developed into a very entertaining character in recent months. Always a sensational wrestler though…

A Doink/Fiend mash up drawing…

How many of you remember Stone Cold Steve Austin’s theme music? How about Razor Ramon’s? Did you know that if you mashed the two themes up, they sound very, VERY similar? Take a listen for yourself…

I have no interest in WrestleMania and I could care less what is going on. That ass on Bebe Rexha… mmm…. don’t know anything about her music nor do I care to. I don’t listen to current music.

Okay… I’m not a musician and only have a very remedial knowledge of music comp., but are those literally the same piece of music just played differently?

The classic Survivor Series music and Marc Mero’s ‘Wildman’ theme are also eerily similar. Plus Big John Studd came out to music at WM5 that was essentially reworked to be Hacksaw Jim Duggan’s entrance!

Crush had Sid’s theme. And Disturbed had a song that basically use the same heat as Shaka Khan.
