The WWF/WWE has had some type of developmental system for years now. Whether it was the USWA, Ohio Valley, Power Pro, Heartland, Deep South, Florida Championship Wrestling or NXT…many of the company’s top superstars got their start in at least one of them. While some developmental names like John Cena, Kurt Angle, Randy Orton, The Miz, Brock Lesnar and Charlotte Flair all made big stars of themselves by first training in developmental, others never got to see the light of day. This series will focus on those wrestlers…the ones that at some point were a lock to get called up to the main roster and never quite made it. What once was hot, suddenly became a “not” as a WWE superstar.

Devin Taylor

Brittany Fetkin started out her professional wrestling career after a stint as a model and reality show contestant. Like Mike ‘The Miz’ Mizanin before her, Fetkin appeared on the reality show ‘The Bachelor.’ She called herself a WWE Diva in training. Fetkin did have an athletic background as she played soccer in school before her aspirations of becoming a WWE Diva.

Fetkin tried out and was signed to a WWE developmental deal in 2013. She was assigned to NXT. While there, Fetkin was trained by both Bill DeMott and Sara Amato. Brittany Fetkin was given the ring name of ‘Devin Taylor.’ Taylor would wrestle a bunch of NXT house show matches in tag teams with and against the likes of Charlotte Flair, Bayley and Alexa Bliss.

While green in the ring, WWE decided to utilize her beauty and put her on camera as both a ring announcer and most notably as a backstage interviewer. While still in training as a wrestler, the 5’3 Devin Taylor interviewed all the upcoming rising stars of NXT…even appearing on WWE’s docuseries Breeding Ground. As an interviewer, she had an ongoing storyline with Dana Brooke which had Brooke continually belittling Devin. Dana’s interviews with Taylor always ended with Brooke patting Taylor on her head as a sign of disrespect. It looked as if it was setting up an eventual in ring showdown between the two.

Unfortunately for Fetkin, that never happened as she was released from her developmental contract in 2015. While her release from NXT subsequently ended her pursuit of a career as a pro wrestler….Fetkin decided to return to school. She received a Masters degree from the University of Miami in Business Administration and then her PhD in Organizational Change and Leadership. She is now an entrepreneur as she created a dating app for people with Special needs called OAKDATE. Fetkin also started up her own line of cosmetics. She resides in the San Diego, California area.
