Good day everyone! It’s time for another round of useless wrestling facts and stats. Some are obvious and well known, while others not so much. In either case, they are all meant to educate and just be fun. So kick back, relax and learn a little something…..or nothing.

In 2018 at Wrestlemania 34…Cedric Alexander defeated Mustafa Ali to win the WWE Cruiserweight title. Alexander became the very first black wrestler to win a title in a singles match at a Wrestlemania. Viscera briefly won the WWF hardcore title at Wrestlemania 2000.

Arn Anderson, Bob Armstrong, The Undertaker and Antonio Inoki are the only wrestlers with pinfall victories over both Hulk Hogan and Ric Flair.

Shawn Michaels is the only WWF Triple Crown forfeiter. Michaels is the only superstar to vacate the WWF intercontinental, tag team and world titles.

‘Dirty’ Dick Murdoch trained ‘Killer’ Tim Brooks to be a professional wrestler. Did you know that the two are also first cousins?

Lisa Marie Varon is a former 5 time TNA Knockouts champion and a former 2 time WWE Women’s champion. Varon actually made her wrestling debut on an episode of WCW Nitro. She was used in a cameo appearance as one of the women who hung out with the nWo.

Christian Cage got his ring name by combining the names of two of his favorite actors…Christian Slater and Nicolas Cage.

Rob Van Dam once owned his own comic book shop in California called 5 Star Comics.

Mask versus mask matches have become a big tradition in Lucha Libre. The very first mask vs. mask match took place on November 28th, 1943 at the legendary Arena Coliseo in Mexico city for EMLL. The two wrestlers were El Chimpancé against Bestia Roja.

Dave Bautista had the single longest reign of the WWE World Heavyweight title. He held the championship for 282 days.

Walter is the longest reigning champion of any kind in WWE since Hulk Hogan’s first WWF title reign which lasted 1,474 days from 1984 until 1988.

AEW star Orange Cassidy aka James Cipperly is a real life architect based out of New Jersey.

Ole Anderson chose his ring name after a poisonous plant called an Oleander.

Rey Mysterio was a stunt double for actor Robert Englund’s ‘Freddy Krueger’ character in the 2003 movie ‘Freddy Vs. Jason.’

Themis Klarides is a former WWF model and ring girl on Monday Night Raw. She was also the former girlfriend of Shawn Michaels. Klarides would become a lawyer and eventually get elected to the House of Representatives for the state of Connecticut. She was also the first woman leader of the House Republicans in Connecticut history.

Wrestlemania 33 marked the first victory for the Hardy Boyz at a Wrestlemania.

The IWGP Triple Crown in New Japan Pro Wrestling is considered winning the IWGP U.S., Intercontinental and Heavyweight titles. Only Kenny Omega and Jay White are considered IWGP Triple Crown Champions.

Jesse ‘The Body’ Ventura made his debut as a color commentator on January 19th, 1985. It was on WWF’s All Star Wrestling show hosted by Jack Reynolds. Ventura replaced Angelo Mosca as commentator and the rest is history.

The Bunkhouse Stampede was a match concept created by Dusty Rhodes in 1985. There were a total of four Bunkhouse Stampede’s with Rhodes winning all of them. The last Bunkhouse Stampede was in 1988 and held in New York’s Nassau Coliseum. It was made as a pay per view. Three weeks before the NWA’s pay per view of the Bunkhouse Stampede, the WWF held a house show in the same arena. Their main event was a rip off of the Bunkhouse Stampede called A Bunkhouse Brawl. The match was won by Bam Bam Bigelow.

Jerry ‘The King’ Lawler was responsible for drawing the fake tattoos on Brian Lee when he portrayed the Fake Undertaker.

Alexa Bliss’ victory over Randy Orton at Fast Lane in 2021…was the first time a woman defeated a male wrestler in a singles match in WWE since 1999. It was last accomplished by Chyna over Jeff Jarrett.

Andrade aka La Sombra….started his pro wrestling career at 13 years old. His father needed to sign a waiver from Mexico’s athletic commission to allow him to wrestle.

Diamond Dallas Page was the man responsible for changing Scott Hall’s look to what most fans are accustomed to with the slicked, jet black hair and toothpick.

Scotty Riggs eye patch that he wore in WCW was not a gimmick. He legitimately suffered a bruised cornea in a match against Raven and was forced to wear one to continue wrestling.

Paul London made his WWE debut against Brock Lesnar in a match for the WWE heavyweight title.

In 1945, baseball legend Babe Ruth became a referee for pro wrestling matches. This, after baseball refused to give him a job as a coach or manager.

Wrestlemania 37 marks the first ‘Mania since 1988 where Shawn Michaels, Triple H or the Undertaker were not involved in a match. That Wrestlemania was IV.

In 1980, New Japan Wrestling faced off against All Japan Pro Wrestling in a promotional softball game. New Japan won the game 22 – 5. Over 3,000 fans were in attendance to watch.

Johnny Hotbody was the first ever ECW Triple Crown champion.

Pro Wrestling made its debut at the Tokyo Dome on April 24th,1989. On that show, wrestler Keiichi Yamada debuted a new gimmick named Jushin Liger.

‘Dirty’ Dutch Mantell gave Steve Williams the name ‘Steve Austin’.

The Mexican National Welterweight Championship crowned its first champion on June 17, 1934, making it the oldest, still active, professional wrestling championship in the world.

During Ken Shamrock’s early days in pro wrestling in 1990, his ring name was Vince Torrelli and he was managed by Paul Jones.

The late Academy Award winning actor Kirk Douglas was a stand out amateur wrestler in college. He transitioned to wrestling professionally in Carnivals befriending the likes of Lou Thesz before turning his attention to acting.

  1. Now Jay White is kind of a Grand-Slam champion having won the IWGP Heavyweight championship, the Intercontinental Championship, the U.S. Championship, and now… the NEVER-Openweight championship.

    That’s not true. The Undertaker pinned Hogan on multiple occasions (Survivor Series 91, Backlash 2002) and pinned Ric Flair at Wrestlemania 18.
