This is the 354th installment of the ‘Wrestling with Sin‘ series. A group of stories that delves into the darker, underbelly of pro wrestling. Many of the stories involve such subjects as sex, drugs, greed and in some cases even murder! As with every single story in the Sin series, I do not condone or condemn the alleged participants. We simply retell their stories by researching interviews, newspapers, magazines and various other sources of media.
The Red Eye (Literally)
In 1990, the WWF was at the end of a 15 day tour. The wrestlers took a red eye flight from San Francisco to Dallas. Also on the same flight were a group of four college kids (3 men and 1 woman) who were looking to party with the WWF superstars. According to Marty Jannetty, all of the wrestlers had their eyes on the female in the college group. The Rockers (Jannetty and Shawn Michaels) served the college group drink with some GHB in it. Jannetty insisted that GHB was a legal drug at the time.
After the college kids drank the spiked drinks…..they all eventually passed out. One of the Hebner twins (Believed to be Dave) allegedly was the first to take advantage of the passed out female. Hebner allegedly got a pair of scissors and cut the woman’s bra and shirt exposing her breasts. Some of the wrestlers then allegedly started cutting the hair of all four college kids.
Sgt. Slaughter allegedly was a lookout and was used to distract the flight attendants, while the other wrestlers cut the hair and wrote on their faces with a black magic marker. The Ultimate Warrior came from first class to see the unconscious female and allegedly fondled her breasts and twisting her nipples aggressively. The female woke up briefly and tried to cover herself up, but vomited all over herself in the process. The four college kids were left with marker on their faces and their hair all over the place.
I Hart Lucy
Teddy Long recalled how he had major heat with Ric Flair. According to Long, Flair hated Long for whatever reason. Flair allegedly called Teddy a N_____er and never apologized for it years later when both were in WWE. Flair was also dead set against making Teddy (who was a referee at the time) into a heel manager in the NWA/WCW. Flair consistently made Long’s life a living hell. The heat with Ric Flair was so bad, it brought Teddy Long down mentally.
Fellow manager Gary Hart saw how badly Ric Flair would treat Teddy Long. One day, Hart pulled Long over to the side and handed Teddy a blade. Gary Hart was known to carry a small blade inside a cigarette pack which he named “Sweet Lucy.” Hart made Teddy his own blade and told Long ‘If he keeps on bothering you, you take this blade and you cut his Goddamn throat.’ Hart had his own run ins with both wrestlers and promoters where he would pull out “Sweet Lucy” and use it without hesitation as told here.
Thankfully, for Flair’s sake, Teddy Long never used the blade to cut or maim the Nature Boy.
Kat Scratch Fever
Kat Leroux was a wrestler who was trained by the legendary Killer Kowalski. She made her debut in 1986 and mostly worked in the same troupe of female wrestlers headed by Misty Blue. She mainly worked for the Mid Atlantic territory run by the Crocketts, but also competed in Verne Gagne’s AWA. Friends and fellow wrestlers remember Leroux as a genuinely sweet woman, but also “one tough broad” who wasn’t afraid of a fight.
A perfect example of this was while on a tour of Hamburg, Germany…Leroux and her friend…a midget wrestler named Little Louie were assaulted by a group of 12 men outside of a bar. Kat Leroux was banged up, but still wrestled her match that evening and when the show was over, she brought the entire roster of male and female wrestlers back to the same bar where she found the gang of men and assaulted them, exacting revenge in the process.
In May of 2021, there was a small unsanctioned wrestling show in Venustiano Carranza in Mexico City. During the show, a luchador named Einar the Viking sat on the road after a loss. A 5 year old boy named Mateo, ran up to the wrestler and grabbed the 21 year old wrestler on the neck. Einar grabbed the boy and flung the child who hit his face on the pavement. Some of the fans in attendance ran after Einar to confront him.
Police arrived and arrested the luchador for assault on a child. A few hours later Einar was released from custody as the boy’s mother refused to press charges because the injuries were minor in nature. Einar the Viking was suspended indefinitely by the wrestling commission in Mexico. It is reportedly not so much the assault on a 5 year old, but holding an unsanctioned wrestling event.
