Wrestling With Sin: 368

Brian Damage

This is the 368th installment of the ‘Wrestling with Sin‘ series. A group of stories that delves into the darker, underbelly of pro wrestling. Many of the stories involve such subjects as sex, drugs, greed and in some cases even murder! As with every single story in the Sin series, I do not condone or condemn the alleged participants. We simply retell their stories by researching interviews, newspapers, magazines and various other sources of media.

What Happens in Vegas…Pays in Vegas

A group of WWF wrestlers that allegedly consisted Jim Powers, Jake Roberts and the Ultimate Warrior went to a brothel called the Mustang Ranch in Nevada. When they arrived there, they were immediately noticed by all the female workers and were swarmed by them wanting to party with the pro wrestlers. This angered many of the other patrons who were being ignored by the sex workers. The Madam of the brothel had to step in and break up the crowd to keep business going. She supposedly handed each wrestler a voucher of sorts to go into a back room with a female free of charge.

The Ultimate Warrior was allegedly insulted by the offer and refused the voucher saying that he had a lot of money and didn’t need a hand out. Jake Roberts allegedly grabbed Warrior’s voucher for himself. The Ultimate Warrior would later sit at the brothel’s bar with a woman he had an interest in and allegedly tried to convince the woman to leave with him and go back to his hotel room, instead of having sex inside the establishment. The madam had to step in once again and refuse Warrior’s request. The other wrestlers supposedly felt that The Warrior was just miserable and no longer had him go out and party with them again.

Wolfman Smack

‘The Wolfman’ Willie Farkas was a professional wrestler discovered and trained by Stu Hart. The Wolfman became a larger than life heel character in the Stampede territory for several years. He also wrestled for the WWWF and was managed by both ‘Classy’ Freddy Blassie and Captain Lou Albano. He would challenge Bruno Sammartino for that version of the world title on a number of occasions. In real life, Bruno and Farkas became good friends for many years outside the ring.

Before his wrestling career took off, Farkas was at a local dive bar in Calgary, Alberta, Canada and was involved in a wild, violent brawl. Willie Farkas was arrested and spent over 18 months in jail for his role in the brawl.

Title Run

Buzz Tyler was a mainstay of the NWA run territories from the start of his career in 1977 until his “retirement” in 1985. Tyler had defeated Ron Bass for the NWA Mid Atlantic championship in March of 1985. By July of 1985, Buzz Tyler was gone from the Crockett run territory forfeiting the Mid Atlantic title in the process.

When the booker Dusty Rhodes asked Tyler to return the belt…Tyler refused citing that the Crockett family owed him a substantial amount of money. Buzz Tyler decided to steal the Mid Atlantic Heavyweight title and keep it as collateral. Buzz Tyler never wrestled another match in his career. While some say he became disenchanted with the business of professional wrestling, others have claimed he was blacklisted throughout the country and couldn’t find work. In either case, the title was never returned and the Crocketts had to commission a brand new championship belt.

Hard Knox

Stuart Tomlinson is a former WWE developmental wrestler with NXT from 2013 until his release in 2016. He wrestled under the name ‘Hugo Knox.’ The former British wrestler was also a goalkeeper for several clubs in the United Kingdom before starting a career as a pro wrestler. Nearly a year after signing a WWE developmental deal, it was reported that while a a goalkeeper for the Burton Albion football club, Tomlinson had a 3 month fling with a front office employee.

While that in itself doesn’t seem like an issue, this female employee had allegedly been paying to have sex with Tomlinson. The chairman of the Burton Albion club later stated that while the goalkeeper for the team…Tomlinson moonlighted as a male escort. The female employee was later fired and she sued the club for constructive dismissal, sexual discrimination and harassment. Stuart Tomlinson never made it as a pro wrestler and now works as a model.

  1. The Mustang Ranch is outside of Reno, not that I would know the exact location. Anyways just another story of what a d#ck the Warrior seemed to be. No way to go through life.

  2. Why am I NOT surprised at all about the Warrior being such a cock-blocking debbie downer?

As for Buzz Tyler, why didn’t Crockett sue him to get the belt back? Maybe he figured it’d be much cheaper in the long run to make a new belt rather than spend money on legal fees. That being said, one could argue maybe Tyler was right about Crockett owing him money since he didn’t pursue the matter further.

  3. Everyone’s going on about how big of a dick Warrior was. Why doesn’t anyone say anything about how much of a dumbass he was? He would have been doing the poor woman a favor taking the voucher and yet he was convinced that it was all about him… I still can’t get over how they’ve been pushing him as this amazing human being.
