All the Rage! Remembering The WWF’s Wrestlemania XV Rage Party

There really is no question that WWE’s Wrestlemania has grown into a huge event every year. It is their signature show that features big match ups, stars from other areas of entertainment and thousands upon thousands of fans that come from all corners of the world. Another big part of Wrestlemania Weekend, is their Fan Axxess which allows fans to interact with many of their favorite WWE superstars. In 1999, before the existence of Axxess, there was an attempt by Vince McMahon to create an event before the “showcase of the immortals.” It was called the WWF Wrestlemania XV Rage Party and it wasn’t all that Vince or the fans thought it was cracked up to be.

Remembering ‘Rugged’ Ronnie Garvin in the WWF

For most of his career, he was known as ‘The Hands of Stone’ and wrestled for various territories and promotions in Georgia, Tennessee, Puerto Rico and Canada. He was even a former NWA world heavyweight champion defeating ‘The Nature Boy’ Ric Flair. After nearly 30 years in the wrestling business, Ronnie Garvin was looking to slow down a bit. Garvin thought, what better place to do that than go to the World Wrestling Federation.

Remember When WCW Had A Hall of Fame?

Most wrestling fans are very familiar with WWE’s Hall of Fame. It began in 1993 and the ceremony…for the most part…has been televised the night before the company’s biggest event of the year…Wrestlemania. Ever since WWE came up with the concept, several other pro wrestling halls of fame have emerged including the TNA/Impact Wrestling Hall of Fame, The George Tragos/Lou Thesz Professional Wrestling Hall of Fame and an actual brick and mortar Hall…The Professional Wrestling Hall of Fame. Remember When WCW Held ‘The King of Cable’ Tournament

Superstation WTBS and professional wrestling….it went together like peanut butter and jelly. From Georgia Championship Wrestling to World Championship Wrestling (With a brief cameo from the World Wrestling Federation as well) wrestling has been a big part of TBS’ programming through the years. In 1992, TBS celebrated 20 years of pro wrestling on the super station. TBS executives in conjunction with WCW, decided to celebrate the anniversary the only way they knew possible…..with a wrestling tournament. Continue reading
