The Perfect Getaway: Curt Hennig Jumps from the WWF to WCW

During the Monday Night War between the World Wrestling Federation and World Championship Wrestling, there were quite a few wrestlers who jumped from one promotion to another. Money and guaranteed contracts were given out like candy. It was certainly a ‘wrestler’s market’ where they could dictate where they wanted to be and pretty much for how much. While we all know of wrestlers like Hall and Nash, Jeff Jarrett, Rick Rude and Brian Pillman all jumping from one place to another…one that isn’t talked about much is the WWF defection of ‘Mr. Perfect’ Curt Hennig to WCW. It involved backstabbing, deception, legal threats and a lot of personal bitterness.

Top Five Worst Masked Wrestlers

Masked wrestlers have long been a part of the fabric of pro wrestling history. In places like Mexico, the masks are considered somewhat sacred. Here in the United States, masked wrestlers like Mr. Wrestling, The Masked Superstar, the Destroyer, the Grappler and the Spoiler have all had great success. Then there are those masked wrestlers who weren’t exactly fooling anyone. Their masked identities left little to the imagination. I am NOT referring to the brief masked gimmicks of guys like the Midnight Rider, Mr. America or The Yellow Dog…but wrestlers who were saddled with an actual masked gimmick for a longer run and were just poorly conceived.

Answering The 10 Count: The S.A.T aka The Maximo Brothers

There have been many within the history of pro wrestling that have been either very innovative and or influential. Names like Eddie Gilbert, Jake Roberts, the Road Warriors and Dusty Rhodes are just a few names that have changed the business in a positive way. Even rarer are wrestlers that are both innovative and influential. One team that checks both boxes is the tag team called The S.A.T also known as The Maximo Brothers which consist of Jose, Joel and Will Maximo. Most may not know who they are and what they have contributed to the wrestling business, but rest assured, they have helped pave the way to the style of wrestling we see today.
