It is unlike the ‘Wrestling with Sin’ series that deals more with the seedier side of wrestling like arrests, murders and suicides. Grappling looks more at particular tragic incidents that have in some instances altered pro wrestling in some way.

The Long Goodbye: Mark Henry’s “Retirement” Speech

On June 17th, 2013 on an edition of Monday Night Raw…’The World’s Strongest Man’ Mark Henry entered the ring to give what was believed to be his retirement speech and walk away from his active WWE career. What we heard was raw (no pun intended) real emotion as Henry said his goodbyes to the WWE fans. What we saw was both Mark Henry and then WWE champion John Cena teary eyed as Henry spoke his words. What happened, was something not many expected to actually go down.

Downed On The Farm: Top WWE Developmental Prospects That Never Made It…Part 73

The WWF/WWE has had some type of developmental system for years now. Whether it was the USWA, Ohio Valley, Power Pro, Heartland, Deep South, Florida Championship Wrestling or NXT…many of the company’s top superstars got their start in at least one of them. While some developmental names like John Cena, Kurt Angle, Randy Orton, The Miz, Brock Lesnar and Charlotte Flair all made big stars of themselves by first training in developmental, others never got to see the light of day. This series will focus on those wrestlers…the ones that at some point were a lock to get called up to the main roster and never quite made it. What once was hot, suddenly became a “not” as a WWE superstar.
