It’s Saturday and today we have ’This Week in Wrestling’, the 24th of 2024. Today Brian looks at Ricochet and his potentially inevitable departure from WWE and shares all the best wrestling content from this week. (WARNING!!! Some NSFW content inside) I REPEAT…NSFW Content!

Will Ricochet Bounce From WWE?

The big news this week was that Ricochet’s contract is soon to expire in WWE and reports have stated that he informed management that he was not going to re-sign a new deal with the company. After that was reported, sources stated that Ricochet’s decision was still “up in the air” and has not definitively decided to exit WWE. Now while some fans hold out hope that he will return to WWE, I think it is more than obvious he plans on going elsewhere…more than likely All Elite Wrestling.

It wasn’t that long ago where AEW wrestler Will Ospreay put down the way WWE utilized Ricochet in the years he was competing for them. Ospreay even went as far as to state that he would love for Ricochet to sign with AEW once he becomes a free agent. After those remarks by Ospreay, we heard about ricochet not re-signing with WWE and the company slowly writing him off TV. He lost the Twiitter/X exclusive Speed championship to Andrade and was destroyed by Bron Breakker on Raw this past Monday night being stretchered out of the arena.

Of course with Ricochet’s “inevitable” departure, many have wondered what will become of his fiancé…WWE ring announcer Samantha Irvin? Some believe she will eventually follow Ricochet out of the company. Now I’m not an insider and have no knowledge of Irvin’s contract status, but as crazy as this sounds…losing Irvin might be a greater loss to WWE than Ricochet. This is coming from a big fan of Ricochet when he competed in New Japan. The guy is an amazing athlete that quite frankly was watered down in WWE. He is capable of so much more, but whether it was Vince McMahon who initially held him back or Triple H who really didn’t use him to the best of his abilities, Ricochet never really connected with WWE fans.

Honestly, Ricochet didn’t seem to have the charisma the company seeks from its wrestlers. He is more high octane, fast paced aerialist that fits more in places like Japan, Mexico and yes…AEW. And that is perfectly fine, some wrestlers just are better off in certain places and I think Ricochet will be fantastic in AEW, if he so chooses to go there. Getting back to Samantha Irvin, I don’t think it is a lock that she will ultimately walk away from WWE to follow her man. Heck, there are other couples that work for separate promotions. Buddy Matthews and Rhea Ripley immediately come to mind. Regardless, I know some fans are critical of Irvin, but she is a great talent to have on WWE’s roster. She is great as a ring announcer and uses her passion of the business to call great moments.

WWE and Pro Wrestling Noah Have a “Major Announcement” This Sunday

It is being reported that WWE and Pro Wrestling Noah have a major announcement to make this Sunday in Japan. Is this a new working agreement of sorts? This after TNA and NXT have partnered together and Iyo Sky is headed back to Japan to wrestle for Rossy Ogawa’s new Marigold promotion to take on Utami Hayashishita. This is definitely a new era in WWE.

Rest in Peace Bridgeen Mitchell

Our deepest condolences go out to WWE star Alba Fyre, whose mother was tragically killed after being struck by a car in Orlando, Florida. Bridgeen Mitchell was just 51 years old.

Rest in Peace Jonathan Morton

Rock N Roll Express’ Ricky Morton announced the sudden passing of his oldest son Jonathan Morton. No other details were made available on the cause of death. We sincerely wish the entire Morton family well during this very difficult time.
