Wrestling With Sin: 147

Brian Damage

This is the 147th installment of the ‘Wrestling with Sin‘ series. A group of stories that delves into the darker, underbelly of pro wrestling. Many of the stories involve such subjects as sex, drugs, greed and in some cases even murder! As with every single story in the Sin series, I do not condone or condemn the alleged participants. We simply retell their stories by researching interviews, newspapers, magazines and various other sources of media.

Room Disservice

It was around 1994 and the WWF was on tour in the Cleveland, Ohio area. Razor Ramon and the 123 Kid were roommates sharing a hotel room. One night, the 123 Kid brought a stripper back to their room to have sex. Razor who was partying all night was passed out on the other bed.

The 123 Kid and the stripper began to have sex and it got so loud that it woke Razor up out of a deep sleep. Razor Ramon, who was still pretty drunk sat up took down his pants and instead of joining in on the sex, urinated on the hotel room floor. He then pulled his pants back up and went back to sleep.

Beat down in the Bayou

Several wrestlers who competed in Bill Watts old Mid South/UWF promotion have talked about an infamous “backroom” in a Louisiana arena. According to the wrestlers, often times especially “rowdy fans” were taken to this room by local police and the fans in question were allegedly either roughed up by the wrestlers or the police themselves.

For instance, one night, Hercules Hernandez was doing a heel run in during a match and a fan jumped over the barricade and tackled him by the entrance. The police grabbed the fan and brought him to the back room and handcuffed him to a chair. After the match was over, Hercules returned to the room and slapped the fan unconscious while police looked away.

Another time, a fan ran into the ring during a match and pulled a gun on the opponent of The Junkyard Dog. After police grabbed the fan, he too was brought to the back room with police and Bill Watts and was allegedly roughed up pretty good.

Wa-who Started it?

One summer afternoon, Wahoo McDaniel was almost involved in a car accident in the parking lot of a shopping mall in North Carolina. The woman who was almost involved in the accident honked her horn at McDaniel. A 19-year-old passer-by started laughing at the incident. A little while later, McDaniel spotted the 19-year-old sitting in a car with his friend and confronted him about the laughing.

The two started arguing and the 19-year-old got out of the car. That is when Wahoo allegedly slapped the young man and stuck his head in a bicycle rack. The man’s friend tried to jump in and he was struck by Wahoo. Another witness saw Wahoo manhandling the two young men and hit him in the back of the head with his groceries. Police were called and Wahoo McDaniel was arrested and charged with assault. He was later released on a $100 bond.

Testing the Waters

Former WWE and TNA wrestler Katarina Waters (Katie Lea Burchill/Winter) has given up on a full-time wrestling career. She is now pursuing another career in the entertainment field, that of acting. Katarina has starred in several low budget and independent movies. One such movie was called ‘Karate Kill’ and was released in 2016.

One particular scene in that movie had a scantily clad Katarina fondling a woman who was tied up and completely nude. Katarina herself is not afraid of baring all in the name of show business. Katarina has hosted an all nude comedy show while in the buff.

A Crummy Situation

‘Slammin’ Sammy Crum was a professional wrestler from the 1950’s whose biggest claim to fame was being beaten by Antonino Rocca in his debut match. In July of 2017, at a retirement home in Wisconsin, Sam Crum was arguing with another resident over what to watch on television. Crum would suddenly snap and pick up a folding chair and repeatedly strike the other resident over the head with it. Crum then body slammed the elderly resident to the floor.

The elderly man died from his injuries which included severe brain hemorrhaging and a shattered hip. Crum, who is 89-years-old, suffers from both dementia and Alzheimer’s disease. It was believed when he snapped, he went back to his old wrestling days not realizing where he really was. A criminal investigation is currently taking place as of this writing but the belief is no criminal charges will be filed considering Crum’s fragile mental state.

This incident is eerily reminiscent of the incident involving Verne’s Gagne’s that occurred in 2009.
