Wrestling With Sin: 229

Brian Damage

This is the 229th installment of the ‘Wrestling with Sin‘ series. A group of stories that delves into the darker, underbelly of pro wrestling. Many of the stories involve such subjects as sex, drugs, greed and in some cases even murder! As with every single story in the Sin series, I do not condone or condemn the alleged participants. We simply retell their stories by researching interviews, newspapers, magazines and various other sources of media.

Confrontation in Korea

While 2 Cold Scorpio was employed by WCW, he and a few other wrestlers went to the Bahamas to help Ric Flair open up a gym on the island. During the trip, Scorpio, the Nasty Boys, Buddy Lee Parker and Brian Pillman partied at a hotel drinking and snorting cocaine. The next day, Flair invited Pillman and Buddy Lee Parker on his boat and after that boat outing….Ric Flair (Who was booking for the company) informed Scorpio that he had to take a drug test. Scorpio would ultimately be fired from WCW and he believed that Pillman was a ‘rat,’ but couldn’t prove it. 2 Cold Scorpio had a lot of built up hatred for Ric Flair after he fired him and promised to kick his ass if he ever saw him again.

The next time 2 Cold and Flair would be together was for ‘Collision in Korea’ which featured wrestlers from WCW and New Japan (Which is where Scorpio ended up). While in North Korea on the wrestlers bus, Scorpio saw Flair outside waiting for his personal car. Scorpio started cursing Flair out and Road Warrior Hawk who was on the bus and friends with Flair got pissed off. Hawk and Scorpio started arguing and then Hawk allegedly said, “Fuck you Ni***r!'” and a fist fight between the two broke out on the bus.

Various wrestlers were able to break up the fight, but it didn’t end there. While sightseeing, Hawk allegedly sucker punched Scorpio in the face and the two had to be separated again. According to Scorpio, later on….Scorpio took steel chopsticks and sharpened them to make a shiv to stab Hawk with. Luckily, he was talked out of doing it by the New Japan contingent. Scorpio would later admit that the two met upa while later in Japan and they made up and partied together and everything was quashed.

Robed Him Blind

After Ric Flair divorced his second wife Beth in 2006, Flair almost immediately married wife number 3…a woman named Tiffany. There was some belief that Tiffany was his mistress and caused the divorce. In 2009, Ric Flair and his third wife Tiffany legally separated. Once Flair had left the home they shared, Tiffany allegedly broke into the house using a shovel. She then allegedly stole a few of Flair’s signature sequined robes, some of his jewelry and even his dog named Naitch. She also allegedly destroyed some of his personal belongings and then dumping them into his swimming pool.

According to Flair, Tiffany sold the robes worth an estimated $50,000 to a person she met online for a little over $7,000. She also renamed his dog. After that ordeal, Flair filed a complaint over another incident accusing Tiffany of hitting him with a cell phone charger after she was caught on his property allegedly stalking him.

Storm is Brewing

Crystal Louthan was briefly a backstage interviewer for TNA wrestling back in 2007. She began dating ‘Cowboy’ James Storm around the time she was employed by the company. It was rumored that her relationship with Storm began as an affair. Storm had a girlfriend at the time, with whom they had a daughter together.

James Storm and his girlfriend eventually split up and he began dating Louthan exclusively. Storm and Louthan would also eventually break up and Louthan left TNA to pursue other opportunities in 2008.

Iced Berg

John Berg was a professional wrestler who was renamed ‘Charlie Hackenschmidt’ and was billed as the younger brother of famed wrestler George Hackenschmidt. The reasoning was to garner more fan interest in him. He would go on to capture the World Light Heavyweight Wrestling Championship in 1918.

On January 8, 1924…Berg was shot and killed by his business partner D.E. Johnson over an unknown dispute. Johnson was arrested and charged with manslaughter.
