Wrestling With Sin: 338

Brian Damage

This is the 338th installment of the ‘Wrestling with Sin‘ series. A group of stories that delves into the darker, underbelly of pro wrestling. Many of the stories involve such subjects as sex, drugs, greed and in some cases even murder! As with every single story in the Sin series, I do not condone or condemn the alleged participants. We simply retell their stories by researching interviews, newspapers, magazines and various other sources of media.

Steph Infection

Kurt Angle recalled during a WWE event that a crazed fan hurled a baseball at Stephanie McMahon while she was walking down the ramp. Instead of calling police, Angle called WWE CEO Vince McMahon (Stephanie’s father). According to Angle, Vince became enraged and demanded that the baseball throwing perpetrator be caught.

Vince went to security and allegedly told them, ‘You find the SOB that did that. I don’t care how much money it takes; you tell fans, you keep offering money until they say yes.’

Mr. McMahon didn’t care how much it took, whether it was 100, 200, 300 dollars etc…no price was too high to get the person who tried to hurt his daughter. Security started walking through the crowd and offered the “bounty” to any fan who witnessed the incident. Finally, one fan spoke up after being offered a high sum of money and identified the person involved.

BrisGo and Get Drunk

At one point in time, Tommy ‘Wildfire’ Rich was one of the hottest wrestlers in all of the business. Gerry Brisco recalled that during that period of time, he once went out drinking with Rich somewhere in West Virginia. The two friends got completely drunk hanging out in Brisco’s car. Rich got out of the vehicle to go to the bathroom.

It was at that point that Brisco decided to put his car in drive and step on the gas. The car hit Rich and he went over the top of the vehicle and hit the ground. Realizing what he did, Brisco started to freak out that he may have killed Tommy Rich. According to Brisco, Rich dusted himself off and asked where there was a bar to continue drinking.

The Sun Sets on the West

Synergy Pro Wrestling was/is an independent promotion based in New Jersey founded by promoter Colin West (real name Patrick Shea) In March of 2021, it was revealed that West was an convicted sex offender. West has three previous convictions for Aggravated Criminal Sexual Contact with three male minors ages ranging between 6 and 10 years old in 1999. There was another incident involving the sexual assault of a 12 year old boy from 2004.

For whatever reason, Colin West was able to start a successful indie promotion that was connected with Independent Wrestling TV (a service that streams various independent wrestling promotions.) IWTV and several wrestlers have cut ties with his Synergy promotion after the discovery.

Court Martialed

In August of 1988, former WWF wrestler Corporal Mike Kirchner was sentenced to 6 months in a Florida prison for non payment of child support and ordered to undergo drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

  1. Definitely have to agree with Vince here. I’d do the same thing and then make that fucker PAY! Reminds of that famous segment where Vince wanted to be let known IMMEDIMATELY when SCSA entered the building that night, and when he did he flipped out. I bet exact the same energy/ thing happened here.

Goddamn that Tommy Rich/Brisco story though. Probably not the first time that happened to ol’ Tommy back then.
