Rob remembers: The Dirt Sheet

Rob Faint

Today’s piece by Rob, focuses in on the tag team duo of John Morrison and the Miz. Not only did they find success in the tag team ranks, but they also put together a talk show entitled ‘The Dirt Sheet.’

The Miz and John Morrison were 2 of the most entertaining characters in WWE around 2007.  They were young, brash and were not afraid to give their opinions about anyone or anything.  The Miz, a Tough Enough runner up, had something to prove.  He was more than a game show contestant.  John Hennigan, known here as John Morrison (a reference to the musician), a TE winner, was in search of an identity after using such names as Johnny Blaze, Johnny Nitro, and others.

The Miz and John Morrison began teaming in November of 2007.  They won the WWF tag team title when the title was exclusive to ECW. (for a short time).  They started a talk show called “The Dirt Sheet” where they mocked their competition.  “The Shaman of Sexy ” and “The Chick Magnet ” often met at “The Palace of Wisdom ” to mock their opponents and lampoon popular culture.  Their main victims were CM Punk, Festus and Jessie and Shannon Moore.  They ended up winning 2 Slammys, one for Best WWE.com show and 1 Tag Team of the Year.

Some of my favorite segments were John Morrison impersonating CM Punk, the Shannon Moore apology, and the Thanksgiving episode. They continued to team until 2009 when the Miz got drafted to RAW and Morrison to Smackdown.  Miz attacked Morrison to punctuate the split.

“In life, there are winners and there are losers.  We are the WWE Tag Team champions.  Be jealous.”
