Wrestling With Sin: The Sixth Sense

The entire ‘Wrestling with Sin’ series looks at the darker, seedier side of professional wrestling. The scandals, the sex, the drugs, murder and so on. We are not here to condemn anyone involved in these incidents…rather bring forward these stories.

The Scott Steiner/DDP/Kimberly/Tamara Sytch incident

This heated backstage rivalry between two WCW stars allegedly began with Kimberly Page going back to Eric Bischoff and telling him she suspected Tamara Sytch (Sunny from her WWF days) of doing drugs. Tamara vehemently denied the accusation and offered to take a drug test on the spot. Scott Steiner and Tammy were really good friends and Scott was not pleased with what Kimberly did.

It escalated even further when Vince Russo asked Kimberly to flash her breasts to Scott in a scripted segment in which Kimberly refused. Steiner heard that Kimberly refused to do the segment and proceeded to get in Kimberly’s face and call her some vile names. Kimberly became so distraught, she went back to Bischoff and quit her position within WCW. Later that night, Kimberly’s then husband…Dallas Page was informed of the incident and went after Scott. The two brawled backstage and were broken up by WCW executive Johnny Ace and a few wrestlers. Scott didn’t stop and started pummeling DDP and tried to rip DDP’s eye out of its socket. When order was restored, a bloodied DDP and Scott Steiner went their separate ways and Kimberly was never seen again on WCW television.

Booker T and Batista

During a film shoot for Summer Slam in 2006, Batista got into a heated exchange with Booker T that led to fists being thrown and both men bloodied and bruised. Allegedly, it all stemmed from Batista’s ego which was becoming inflated ever since winning the World heavyweight title. Batista started bad mouthing some of the talent including Booker T. Booker took exception to Batista talking down to what he perceived as lesser talent than him.

The incident started with yelling back and forth and each man calling the other names and culminated with a brief fist fight which saw Booker T gain the quick upper hand. After the fight was broken up, Batista was bloodied and Booker T received a black eye. Neither man was disciplined in the incident.

The Michelle Beadle/CM Punk/AJ Lee Incident

At the 2013 Tribute to the Troops show, ESPN and NBC TV personality Michelle Beadle was used as a host for the event. While backstage, Beadle was walking with her assistants and some WWE personnel when she saw CM Punk and screamed out…”Hello Fuck Face!” Beadle later claimed it is a greeting she gives all her friends and Beadle and Punk were good friends. So good in fact, they dated each other very briefly.

Despite the brief courtship, Beadle maintained that she and Punk remained good friends. Back to the day in question though, AJ Lee apparently took exception to Michelle’s comments to her boyfriend and got into Beadle’s face screaming and curing at her. Beadle walked away and no physical altercation happened. There is another twist to this story however…

The above drawing was made online by a fan and somehow made its way to some wrestlers and WWE personnel backstage. It began getting passed around and one of those people allegedly passing it around was Beadle. The entire confrontation was snuffed out quickly by WWE hierarchy who wanted to avoid any bad publicity. The entire situation and how it was handled by the WWE left a very sour taste in CM Punk’s mouth and was rumored as one of the nails in his WWE coffin.

The Kurt Angle/ Dawn Marie Affair

The affair allegedly lasted a full year between 2003 and 2004. During this period, Kurt was still married to Karen Angle and Dawn was engaged or at least still dating former ECW wrestler Simon Diamond. Dawn Marie admitted to the affair in a 2008 shoot interview.

Mickie James and John Cena

The affair apparently took place while John Cena was engaged or newly married to Elizabeth Huberdeau and Mickie James was engaged to former WWE star Ken Doane (Kenny Dykstra) The affair was exposed by Kenny Doane who saw that Mickie was googling the term…”Mickie James and John Cena Dating.”

Doane confronted Mickie and she admitted to the affair. What made matters worse…is when Mickie told John Cena that Kenny knew about the affair and Cena brushed Mickie off as just a fling. When WWE management got wind of the affair….according to Doane….Kenny was de-pushed and eventually released and the same fate occurred to Mickie James.

A Gagne Family Scandal

We are all well aware of the Gagne family and their once powerful promotion…the AWA. The patriarch Verne Gagne was a 10 time world champion and his son Greg was an AWA stalwart. While Verne was recently in the headlines for killing another man in a retirement home… (Blamed on his dementia)…His grand daughter Gail also made headlines of her own.

Gail Elin Gagne is the daughter of Greg and the grand daughter of Verne. While she is not, nor has ever been a pro wrestler, Gail’s last name makes this a relevant story. In September of 2008, while a teacher at a private school in St Paul, Minnesota…Gail engaged in sex with a 16 year old student. She was eventually arrested and tried for her crime…when another unidentified student came forward. At the trial, Gail admitted to the affair and received two years probation and had to be registered as a sex offender.
