Wrestling with Sin: 86’d

86d

This is the 86th installment of the ‘Wrestling with Sin‘ series. A group of stories that delves into the darker, underbelly of pro wrestling. Many of the stories involves such subjects as sex, drugs, greed and in some cases even murder! As with every single story in the Sin serie, I do not condone or condemn the alleged participants. We simply retell their stories by researching interviews, newspapers, magazines and various other sources of media.

Goon-er Sooner

jimclinstock

‘The Oklahoma Indian’ Jim Clinstock was a professional wrestler from the late 1920’s to the 1940’s. In 1934 while in Memphis, Tennessee, Clinstock got into a heated argument with a furniture salesman over the price of a stove. The argument escalated to a physical confrontation with the salesman, a 46 year old named Leo Kahn dying from his injuries a day later.

Clinstock was arrested and charged with murder. The pro wrestler would enter a plea of not guilty. No word of how that case ended up. 10 years later, Clinstock would be involved in yet another murder case. This time it occurred in a dentist’s office and it was Clinstock who was dead.

He was strangled with a towel by the dentist himself named Dr. Henry C. Parker. According to reports, Clinstock began acting irrational and violent and the dentist used a towel to try and subdue the 240 pound wrestler. Clinstock died from strangulation and the dentist was charged with murder. Dr. Parker and his business partner were later acquitted of murder as it was deemed self-defense. Jim Clinstock was 38 years old at the time of his death.

Rhodes Rage

In May of 1977, ‘The American Dream’ Dusty Rhodes walked into a bar with fellow wrestlers, Steve Keirn, Brian Blair, Kevin Sullivan and Tully Blanchard. While at the bar, a 24 year old fan approached Dusty and asked if he was a pro wrestler on television. After Dusty acknowledged the fan, the fan jokingly asked if Dusty wanted to wrestle. According to reports, Dusty struck the fan twice in the face with open hand slaps, one of which fractured the man’s nose.

Dusty Rhodes then proceeded to drink, sing, dance and sign autographs while the injured fan went to a nearby hospital. The fan would not press charges, but sued Dusty in court. Dusty and his lawyers agreed to an out of court settlement of $3,000.

Speaking of April Hunter, she has also done several different fetish pictorials and some pretty graphic sexual pics as well.

As for Melissa Coates, she was involved in a bit of another scandal with the WWE. While training in developmental, it was alleged that Drew Hankinson aka Luke Gallows stripped naked and gave Rikishi-esque stinkfaces to Melissa Coates and others while head trainer Bill DeMott held jelly donuts over their faces.

Independent wrestler Adam Andrews was arrested in 2013 on charges of unlawful sexual conduct with a minor. He was a pro wrestler in the Ohio area. He is now a registered sex offender. Andrews was also arrested for driving without a valid license.

Southern Harm

In July of 2010, former ECW and TNA wrestler ‘The Confederate Currency’ Chris Hamrick went to his Facebook page and began posting cryptic messages. One of which he wrote…“BIG announcement tonight. Stay tuned. Its to die for !” Later on that night, Hamrick posted again saying….“Hey world I just took 25 sleeping pills. Goodnight !”

Chris Hamrick attempted suicide by taking a full bottle of sleeping pills. Luckily, friends and family of his read the messages and called for help. Hamrick was hospitalized for a couple of days and went to counseling after he was was released. The cause of the attempted suicide was apparently over a woman. Hamrick was allegedly involved with a married woman and when he wanted to advance the relationship…she turned him down which started his downward spiral.
