Whatever Happened to Stacy ‘The Kat’ Carter?

She went from being the real-life wife of Jerry ‘the King’ Lawler to getting an on-screen gig with the WWF. She was in the middle of an angle when she was suddenly fired from the company. Today we ask: ‘Whatever Happened to‘ Stacy Carter?

At the age of eighteen, Stacy Carter met Jerry ‘The King’ Lawler at a charity softball game. The two would have a fling for several months and ultimately got married. Stacy stayed out of the wrestling spotlight until Lawler asked her to fill in for Memphis announcer Dave Brown. Brown had abruptly quit the USWA after a falling out with management and she replaced him briefly as a color commentator and interviewer.

After the USWA went out of business, Stacy Carter did work for the WWF’s developmental promotion Power Pro Wrestling. Stacy Carter never had training as a pro wrestler. Eventually, Carter was brought into the WWF’s main roster as a personal assistant to Debra. She was known as ‘Miss Kitty’ and helped interfere in matches for Debra’s charge, Jeff Jarrett. When Jarrett jumped ship to WCW, she was paired as a sidekick for Chyna.

She changed her appearance by donning a black wig and wearing more revealing clothes. She would go on to win the WWF’s women’s title by winning an evening gown pool match. After her title win came her most infamous stunt. She was being interviewed when she decided to take off her bra. It was the first time in WWF history that nudity appeared on their programming.

According to Carter, the nudity stunt was all scripted and pre-planned. She said WWF management approached her and Jerry Lawler about doing it and they both agreed to everything ahead of time. Miss Kitty would change her name to The Kat. The Kat would ultimately lose the WWF women’s title to a cross-dressing Harvey Wippleman. After a feud against Terri Runnels, she would be a part of a major angle with the faction ‘Right to Censor.’

The storyline had the Kat kidnapped by the Right to Censor. The plan according to Ivory was to have Kat be brainwashed by the RTC and turn heel. This would get Lawler involved in the feud. Midway through the angle, however, it was announced that Stacy Carter had been fired by the WWF for “misconduct.” Feeling blindsided, Jerry Lawler abruptly quit the WWF in protest.

It was revealed later that Stacy Carter was carrying on an affair with a wrestler from the developmental system. This lead to a separation and ultimately a divorce between Lawler and Carter. After working some shows in on the independent circuit, Stacy Carter left pro wrestling altogether. So we ask, whatever happened to Stacy ‘The Kat’ Carter?

Stacy Carter got involved with rescuing animals and also got her real estate broker’s license. She married pro wrestler Sinn Bodhi formerly Kizarny in WWE in 2010. The couple would divorce later and now Carter is a realtor out in the Dallas, Texas area.
